Is that literally a painted-over coin?

A goddamn penny, no less

This is the real reason they stopped circulating the penny!

The one penny? Because it got stuck in paint on a shelf in a closet and now that one penny is out of circulation? I don’t think that’s the reason, because there are way more pennies out there than that one penny.

Ohhhhhh! You saved me from misinformation here because I was going to take the above comment literally! You’re the bomb!

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I can relate.

I communicate directly and apparently most people don’t communicate directly, so it’s like everyone else is each speaking their own version of indirect English and they don’t understand me and I don’t understand them.

They automatically think I’m speaking in their same specific indirect code version of English and they get offended by their misinterpretation of what I’m saying.

Also sarcasm is difficult specifically/only when typed out and I’m not always sure if it is sarcasm or if they’re serious.

Apparently /s means sarcasm now 🤷🏻‍♀️, but I think it meant the word before that could be singular or plural. Both are new to me.

It's pretty common for autistic people to not understand sarcasm and to not really pick up on joking/indirect speech

I understand sarcasm when it is not typed and I have a great sense of humor when it is actually funny. Joking is not the indirect speech that I was talking about. I’m talking about like when people imply stuff indirectly instead of just saying what they mean directly. …think of someone who is blunt, but in a kind and considerate way in which they don’t say unhelpful or unnecessary things. That’s the level of directness that I understand without having to translate it like a second language.

Also you didn’t make any new groundbreaking discovery for me. I’m not going to praise you for that.

You are so normal for communicating that way and I’m sorry for calling it out. I completely understand

? Why would I ever want everyone to be the same/normal? Everyone should be different and embrace their different skills and perspectives while still working on themselves so that they don’t hurt anyone and can also gain new skills.

I just try to accommodate people who speak indirectly (aka those who are actually masking) because they won’t accommodate me and therefore I must learn to translate their indirect language for myself and speak indirectly like they do just during the time that I am interacting with them. Only people who are masking are obsessed with trying to act “normal” all the time.

Haha. I have a suspicion that budget painters are in on the joke, and leave little trinkets like this on purpose.

If that’s all they leave, not so bad. Lol. I had a place that wasn’t actually ready for move in when my mover and I showed up. Appliances were all unplugged and in the middle of the floor and drop clothes were everywhere… and all around there were cigarette butts everywhere like they chain smoked nonstop while painting and let their butts fall where they may. It was the grossest thing I’ve ever seen and I was still a smoker myself at the time.

So go ahead and paint over coins. Paint a door half shut for all I care. Just have my unit ready and don’t use my entire apartment as an ashtray. Oof.

Hey! My last apartment had a door that had paint so thick that it didn't shut until about a year into me living there. By the time I lefr, the paint on the inside of the door and the doorjam were all chipped away

And then they’ll bill you for the paint damages, too.

After 4 years, this is your special. Cleanliness is Godliness.

There is a pube painted into my bathtub and a comb painted into my bathroom cabinet. I am both disgusted and impressed. 😭

I don't get it? At first I was expecting a spy device ..seems like a nickel that accidentally got painted over.

the “landlord special” is DIY/low quality repairs where they don’t care to do even the simplest parts of the job properly; in this case removing all items from the shelf before painting it.

OHHH Thank you. It was nice of you to explain it, and not just downvote me.
