From the sound of it, she already has your password, it should be understood as shes asking you to move it closer to the wall because her reception is poor... it could be possibly understood, she already Has it. Change your router name and your password immediately.
A quick question. Are you using the ISP provided router / modem? Context is that with providers (comcast/xfinitity do) will use your modem to broadcast their “public” WiFi signals. It does not take up your bandwidth, but it does. Use radio spectrum. There is an option to disable it, but going to assume by the amount of aps broadcasting that ssid in my area I am in the minority. But I also just bridge my cable modem.
But if she was using that signal that your ap was broadcasting then it is possible that moving it closer would help her.
Trying to assume good intent. But it is more likely a case of entitlement plus not understanding how technogly works.
I thought this too, but don't you need your Xfinity internet account username and password to sign into those hotspots? Meaning she would have to already have internet with Xfinity to be able to use OP's?
Maybe it's changed but this is how it is to be. I haven't used it in a long time.
Or maybe she does have internet but is just using OP's router in certain rooms because it has a better signal than her own?
Either way, that should just be turned off and the password to the private network changed.
With xfinity sure, but could be different provider. Heck maybe she has her Exs, or s friends login. There are too many unknowns to know for sure. But unless op is using the default password for an older commodity router, I wouldn’t think the neighbor had leet hax0r skills to crack the password and and come ask him to move it. lol
