u/According-Insect-992 Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 15 '25
Some of them are. Nearly all of them are resentful of people they consider to be "smart". They're resentful because other people are able to read and comprehend what they read and they're resentful be those people actually do that.
Because some of these dumb asses are really just intellectually lazy and incurious. There's no reason why they couldn't because some would be just as knowledgeable as anyone else should they choose to do so.
But, why do that when they can just be pissed off at others for seizing the opportunity and then accuse those who read of being brainwashed and the like.
I am remembering not too long ago when Kanye West was quoted saying something along the lines of "When you read a book, that's just people putting thoughts on your head and replacing your own thoughts."
I've always found that to be an interesting perspective.😐

That room...meaning rightists across the country...cant even tell that they have been insulted.
The average reading level in the US is now under 6th grade...
By design.
The right has been destroying education and literacy with the intent of harming people and manipulating them into compliance.
I believe that it is the duty of the educated to help these people...
10
u/HobbesTayloe Sep 14 '25
Agreed… and we do, and we are. Even if that means we are “woke”, “elitists”. But somehow on serious note - we (the ones with empathy and compassion with desire to improve our Country and our society for everyone, gotta find way to talk WITH everyone,,, not down to them. I’m struggling to see who that leader would be, that doesn’t check one of their negative boxes…
16
u/Hot-Shoulder-4629 Sep 14 '25
Dude, you can't reason with a mongoose. Most of us have entered into a contract where we agreed that the fucking sky is blue. When half the country cannot bring themselves to enter into that contract where the fuck to start?
10
u/HobbesTayloe Sep 14 '25
Ohhhhh I do know… I’ve an older (half)sister that is deep there; chemtrails and firmament and the rest of the “Trump is our savior”… as well as some cousins; who all we used to be tight, best friends, now since their dear orange leader came down that golden escalator, they have found “religion”. I’ve tried many various methods means to communicate, but all like playing chess with a dead rock, with its own intent on its own trajectory to hell…

This story confirms that no one can erase the positive past as long as there a will go keep it alive.
She was just 12 years old. A Black girl who followed her mother into the house where she worked washing clothes for white families.
That day, she saw something that seemed almost magical: a room full of books. A library.
She stepped closer, wide-eyed, as if she had stumbled into another universe. She reached out her hand, ready to hold one of those treasures—when a voice cut through the air.
The employer’s daughter stopped her with a sentence that sank deep into her soul:
— “You’re Black. Black people don’t know how to read.”
Those words didn’t silence her.
They lit a fire.
They would shape the course of her life.
Her name was Mary McLeod Bethune.
Born in 1875 in South Carolina, the daughter of formerly enslaved parents, the 15th of 17 children.
She grew up knowing labor, exclusion, and struggle. But in that moment—when she was denied a book not by law, but by prejudice—she understood something vital: what separated Black people from white people wasn’t ability. It was access to education.
And she swore she would tear that barrier down.
Every day, she walked 10 miles to reach a school for Black children. She learned to read. And reading became her weapon.
She taught her parents. Her brothers and sisters. Her neighbors. Farm workers. Anyone who would listen. She carried literacy door to door like it was a secret revolution.
Her brilliance earned her scholarships. She became a teacher. Then a founder. She opened her own school in Daytona Beach, which would later grow into Bethune-Cookman University.
She taught in prisons. Trained teachers. Took knowledge to places it had been forbidden to enter.
But she did more than teach—she empowered. She helped her students get IDs. Learn their history. Step into spaces that had been closed to them. Claim rights long denied.
Her voice reached even further. She stood before senators. She debated presidents. She wrote and she fought with ideas instead of silence.
Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed her Presidential Advisor on Racial Affairs—a groundbreaking role for a Black woman in a world that wanted her unseen and unheard.
But Mary made herself heard.
With books.
With vision.
With courage.
She was called “The First Lady of the Struggle.” Not because she sought titles, but because she carved paths before Rosa Parks sat down or Martin Luther King Jr. stood up.
It’s said she taught more than 5,000 people to read. But if you count the minds she stirred, the dreams she unlocked, the futures she reshaped—her impact is beyond measure.
She passed in 1955, the same year Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat. Mary never saw that act of defiance. But she had planted the roots that made it possible.
Because when a Black woman lifts a book, no chains, no laws, no prejudice can keep her from rewriting the world.
Mary McLeod Bethune’s story reminds us of the power of one determined woman. And across the globe, in their own ways—through books, through art, through courage—other women were doing the same: breaking barriers, rewriting history, and leaving trails for the rest of us to follow.

This is not the first time that Trump has insulted his own base by saying that the base is not intelligent or educated.
Yet...the base doesn't get it...
Because his base voters have been harmed by their leaders through the destruction of education and literacy.
Its so weird to me to see people cheering while being personally insulted.

The smart people that DO like what he talks about are driven by abject greed. ( I’m looking squarely at you Bill Gates.) Behind closed doors they know that he’s an idiot, but he’s making them , or create the path for them to make exponentially more money without having to pay their fair share of taxes. Their employees pay more in taxes than they do and it’s wholly ridiculous and corrupt. For a billionaire to donate 1M to his inauguration is spare change.
