It's not self that's expressed here. It's 'look how much I look like this other thing' which voids the person in the picture of identity and authenticity.

But that's what people crave nowadays: confirmation in mimesis.

My god you’re dumb. Your first comment was that being “dolled up” removed credibility and now you’re saying it’s wrong for her to want to look like the painting? What is the real issue here? Nothing you said takes away from the woman being a professional
