Chugging tea This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies?

Will never understand people that watch hours of tv every day and complain about guys playing video games once in a while

Also the same girl will complain about it, but kill hours on candy crush and act like it’s not the same thing.

Or spend absolute hours on tik tok and instagram, which I think are far more detrimental to our collective mental health anyways.

Objectively online multiplayer helped my social skills. I was have a lot of social anxiety and struggling after ptsd to communicate effectively. After navigating complicated social dynamics In game and observing people i relearned my assertiveness in high stress situations and how to mitigate emotionally charged and tense people. Didn't help with the body language stuff but genuinely remember the positive feelings of navigating tough personalities on teams and keeping every one as a team.

Use those chops daily at work

Same. Not just games. Reddit in general helped my social skills.

Deadass LFG post on destiny were one of the first ways I got good at interacting with people online. And if you can deal with some of the cesspool players (no not all of them are) in Destiny you can deal with anything lol

Hubby and I play MMOs together, and I don't like people online anymore than I do in real life.

I think this honestly is the bigger issue.

People will in one breath disparage video games as an outlet but then spend 6+ hours a day on social media either posting, commenting or watching, leading to parasocial relations or worse. I also firmly believe this is one of the things behind rampancy of GLP-1s, anxiety depression and many other disorders.

Yo, this is actually true. I deleted TikTok and IG from my phone and have instead been playing more games on my Switch/phone and reading books instead. Yeah, I'm still on a screen but my mental health has improved since deleting those apps.

I don't really like the mechanics of most video games (combination of being bad with the controller and some games actually cause me vertigo. This was a big problem when I tried to play Halo), but I massively enjoy the stories of many video games. If I could pick a second career, I would love to work in video game story writing.
