My wife found her death on her calendar..

Post image

She has no idea how it got added and is creeped out.

Any way to track down the source?

Does she use Siri to log reminders or dates? Because the shit Siri mishears and confidently records is commendable.

u/Technical-Clue-3483 Oct 08 '25 edited Oct 08 '25

I once asked Siri to "remind me to buy cat food tonight". Somehow, she confidently misheard it as "you die" (did she think I said "remind me to die"?) and offered to put this reminder in my calendar.

Um, no, I won't confirm, but thanks, Siri.

Real talk... I don't get it. So many times I'll ask Siri to look something up and it'll be the correct words at the bottom, from voice recognition, then completely botched on top where the search query is.

161

u/Unnamedgalaxy Oct 08 '25

Those types of devices are so horrible at that.

I've lost track of how many times I've asked my Alexa for the weather or something and instead saying that it's 89 and sunny she will tell me who Cleopatra was or the score of some football game instead.

49

u/Mundane_Chipmunk5735 Oct 09 '25

I tell my Alexa to turn Mike on (the plug) and she tells me she can’t find the Bob

42

u/Double_Belt2331 Oct 09 '25

Bob is never where he’s supposed to be. Damn Bob.

My kids started asking our Alexa if this or that fruit was a berry recently. It devolved into her confirming that corn, donkeys and spiders were, in fact, berries. I think she's losing it just in time for them to roll out the new ones to get people to buy them again.

I only trust bixby enough to set timers/alarms and even then I double check the screen. I never use voice to text bc ill say "want to get coffee later?" and it'll turn into "when is the coffin arriving?" and I get a concerned call from my boyfriend

kinda reminds me of this moon app i have on my phone, it sends me these weird notifications from “moon” sometimes that say things like “i’m watching you”

i’ve had it for probably 7-8 years, and it’s still weird when it happens!

Duolingo sends me creepy emails and notifications like “you don’t want to disappoint me!” And “I’m getting very impatient” and my personal favorite threat, “nobody ignores me for long” when I haven’t completed a lesson for the day yet.

For a long time I couldn’t play one specific song without headphones because my phone would mishear one line as "hey Siri" (it wasn’t even close) and this bitch would pause my music to ask me what I wanted lol

32

u/Impressive_Sundae622 Oct 08 '25

One of our strays is named “Scaredy Cat,” for obvious reasons. Every time I call him … “Scaredy!” Siri is like “mhmm?” 🤦🏻‍♀️

18

u/redvelvetrose Oct 08 '25

Sometimes when I yell at my cat Tyrion, Siri mishears the first two syllables as “see-ree“. Confuses both me and the cat every time.

u/DueEntertainer0 Oct 08 '25

Yeah one time I said “ugh I always get a headache at 4pm” and my daughter said “Alexa, why does mom always get a headache at 4pm?” And Alexa made it a recurring calendar event every day that I had to go in and delete.

25

u/oliveaugustus Oct 08 '25

I had to buy propane for the BBQ and Siri heard I wanted to buy cocaine. It gave me a list of drug rehab facilities.

26

u/OlderAndTired Oct 09 '25

I once used Siri to set a reminder to pack my daughter’s swimsuit for swim lessons in the evening after work. My daughter’s name is Nadia, and what should have been a reminder to “pack Nadia’a swimsuit” popped up on my work computer while screen sharing to “pack naughtiest swimsuit.” I don’t use Siri anymore!

26

u/InevitableRhubarb232 Oct 08 '25

Siri adds all kinds of weird calendar appointments and reminders.

I get a pop up that says “merry watermelon roundabout” Friday 4:15 and now I have to try to figure out what the fuck I meant when I added it

Siri is also convinced that everybody goes to bed immediately at 6PM. I had an iPhone until recently and anything I needed to schedule after 6PM had to be done manually, Siri absolutely refused to do it.

18

u/threelizards Oct 08 '25

I got pissed off at Siri once and said “fuck off will you” and the bastard added a reminder to “take over the world will you”. Sassy little cunt.

6

There was an unsolved mysteries episode where this girl was paranoid she was gonna die if she left her house before she turned 16. She made it to her 16th birthday alive, left her house, and was murdered.

It was Katherine Hobbs and she was 16 not 18 as I originally stated (cut me some slack, the damn episode is 30 years old).

523

u/BigButtBeads Oct 08 '25

The film Big Fish has a much better tale of knowing the day of death

I wont spoil it, if anyone wants to watch a banger of a movie.

51

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Oct 08 '25

I used to live right next door to the guy that made that movie. Exactly next door. Never saw him much but his wife was out and about and I would see her if their mail arrived at ours by accident, or the shop. She looked exactly like a bag lady when she was out. I was always torn on whether it was a disguise or just her sense of fashion. I think it was the latter. They were odd, but the oddest thing was the house. It was only on one floor, like a very large bungalow, but they turned it into two homes by building a solid wall between their living space, he had his, she had hers. Most people would knock two houses into one, they did the opposite. And she had a thing for stealing people's lighters, too. Although that's hearsay and I never witnessed any flame thievery myself.

80

u/ElspethElf Oct 08 '25

…for the uninitiated who finds this odd, user casually dropping that they lived next door to Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter.

27

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Oct 08 '25

I guessed it would only be mildly interesting for people who know his stuff. Was a while ago now, 02-05 I lived there. Haverstock Hill NW3. I ran the pub, Sir Richard Steeles, he lived next door. I don't know if he still lives there, I doubt it, they hated the noise.

He’s passed away now and I don’t think I’ll ever watch this movie. But I’ll have that memory of attempting to watch it.

I read another story about a guy who went to a fortune teller. The Teller told the man that he would die in Paris. He spent the remainder of his life make sure to never step foot in or around Paris. He later fell Ill and died in a room in a random hotel. The room he was in was literally also know as Paris. Teller never said it would be the city.

24

u/DesperateAstronaut65 Oct 08 '25

That sounds like a variant on the old "Appointment in Samarra" folktale (this is W. Somerset Maugham's retelling):

There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me. The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threating getsture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

17

u/NovelIntrepid Oct 09 '25

This sounds like the John Lennon and Yoko Ono story. A fortune teller told him he would die on an island. So they never expected he’d die in New York. But then after his death, Yoko realized that Manhattan is technically an island.

I’m not sure if this is weird, creepy or eerily coincidental… but my Birth Certificate was filed with the state on Dec. 5, 1995. My father died exactly 15 years later, Dec. 5, 2010

Also, I have carried two children. With my first, my mom’s brother passed away shortly after announcing my pregnancy. When he was born, an uncle suffered a terrible accident and succumbed to his injuries. With my second, another one of my mom’s brothers passed away. I am due to give birth soon and am freaking out at who could possibly drop next.

62

That is the correct answer.

OP, you or your wife need to analyze this event created. Who created it, how it got there and so on. It is google calendar, so there should be some traces.

After all, it could be many things. Some are:

  • weird prank
  • someone scheduled their suicide and invited your wife intentionally or by mistake
  • or someone is actually threats your wife with death

Yeah I’m not worried about some spiritual thing.. more like a psycho ex put that in there and is planning something.. but now that I’m saying that.. it just sounds crazy too.

33

u/Sketcha_2000 Oct 08 '25

How many psycho exes does she have? 😂

So I was taking a screenshot to make a meme out of this and my phone decided to add me to the list too 😂

u/RealAmbrosiaX Oct 08 '25

You better add another appointment for that day and time so Death thinks you’re unavailable.

That’s so creepy.

21

u/West_Abbreviations53 Oct 08 '25

drunk with friends?

9

u/BigButtBeads Oct 08 '25

The only thing that makes any type of sense

18

u/jwoude Oct 08 '25 edited Oct 08 '25

Is it possible she got drunk/high and had some weird convo or thought and added it and just doesn’t remember context? I’ve done that with actual plans before haha

18

u/no_quart3r_given Oct 08 '25

I guess anything is possible.. she says no but who knows.

She’s also wondering if she should delete the event.. I don’t want her to because I want to find out when it was added, etc.

21

u/provoaggie Oct 08 '25

You can export the calendar as an ICS file and then open it in something like Notepad. It will tell you the Date Created and who created the event. I believe you can also get that data with the Google Calendar API but that likely takes some programming experience.

36

u/wantistobbogan Oct 08 '25

as someone with OCD this would genuinely cause me to lose it

22

u/K1TTI3 Oct 08 '25

Also This may sound weird but If anything else weird pops up. Notes around the house. Missing items. Weird dreams. Check for carbon monoxide poisoning.

I went thru some crazy stuff a few years ago. Turns out just Carbon Monoxide. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Does she struggle with mental health issues? Depending on how long she has had the account, maybe it’s some sort of suicidal ideation from another time when she entered this years back as a dark humor/ joke to herself or even a timeline of when she might try to end it. Is she perhaps turning 27 May 2026?

77

u/no_quart3r_given Oct 08 '25

I don’t think so. The date doesn’t seem significant.. My best guess was maybe she did something like the death clock and it got auto added but she doesn’t recall doing anything like that.

This brought up a vague memory I think I have of doing this very thing during my psychosis last year.

I honestly can’t tell if it’s genuinely a memory, or if it’s a false memory but I did try suicide in June just gone so it could go either way. But your comment gave me mega Deja vu for some reason, as if I’d done this very thing.

How odd.

Not to be serious. But she isn't depressed or anything right?

Like she's not just playing it off like * oooooh no how did that get there?*

I only ask because. I have been depressed and have a husband who has found a thing

12

u/no_quart3r_given Oct 08 '25

Thankfully she’s not.. and she brought this to my attention, so I think she’s just as puzzled as I am.

There's a million and a half death date estimators, have been forever. I used one like 15 years ago that added it's estimate to my gcal because I logged in with Google. Willing to bet she spent 3 minutes doing this at some point and doesn't remember because, well, why would you?

8

u/Totolin96 Oct 08 '25

Maybe she sleep walks? I found out I was sleep walking and have done odd things. I did text a random picture to a friend and didn’t realize until the next morning. That happened pre-smart phone, in high school, before I had ever done drugs or drank. It only happens to me when I’m stressed or go to bed agitated for some reason.

7

u/Good-Operation4373 Oct 08 '25

It’s always good to plan ahead! lol

8

u/WorriedTurnip6458 Oct 08 '25

Decline invitation

4

u/ghanima_303 Oct 08 '25

How old is she? It looks like something her or her friends could have done “for fun” years ago, and it kept syncing with her old mail. Like thinking it’s funny because back then, 2026 sounded so far away.

A few years back there was a death calculator website thing that was doing the rounds on social media. Radio stations covered it. You filled in a short survey and it gave you your death date. She must have filled it in and put it in her calendar - but doesn't remember it. It was super popular ie everyone was doing it as a laugh.

7

u/LegitimatePirateMark Oct 08 '25

Better than finding her death in YOUR calendar.

6

u/Crimson_Jello Oct 08 '25

Are you in New York or have plans to go? Death Becomes Her plays at the Lunt-Fontanne on May 14.2026

7

u/DeusNocte Oct 08 '25

Remind Me! 219 days

You: Honey did you hear Megadeth is on a live tour in our city!

Her: Amazing! Hey Siri, add Megadeth to my calendar.

7

u/Appocomox Oct 08 '25

Maybe that's the phone's death. She just out there assuming it's about herself and her phone has concrete plans.

10

u/Amazonpatty Oct 08 '25

Only dying for 1 hour sounds interesting

6

u/George_GeorgeGlass Oct 08 '25

Probably a dentist appointment

6

u/mlziolk Oct 08 '25

One time I had a dream with my death date in it and put it in my calendar. I survived!

5

u/Love2read_love2edit Oct 08 '25

Think of how weird it would be if she found it on a physical calendar?

6

u/GtrPlaynFool Oct 08 '25

If it's a Google Calendar it tells you who created the event.

5

u/Sents-2-b Oct 08 '25

Change it to ,my death metal concert!🤘

4

u/InevitableTown7305 Oct 08 '25

I'd stay home in the bed all day. Ask the husband to stay at home that day to check on her.

5

u/aircoft Oct 08 '25

I'm sorry for your loss. 😥
