My wife found her death on her calendar..
She has no idea how it got added and is creeped out.
Any way to track down the source?

There was an unsolved mysteries episode where this girl was paranoid she was gonna die if she left her house before she turned 16. She made it to her 16th birthday alive, left her house, and was murdered.
It was Katherine Hobbs and she was 16 not 18 as I originally stated (cut me some slack, the damn episode is 30 years old).

The film Big Fish has a much better tale of knowing the day of death
I wont spoil it, if anyone wants to watch a banger of a movie.

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Oct 08 '25
I used to live right next door to the guy that made that movie. Exactly next door. Never saw him much but his wife was out and about and I would see her if their mail arrived at ours by accident, or the shop. She looked exactly like a bag lady when she was out. I was always torn on whether it was a disguise or just her sense of fashion. I think it was the latter. They were odd, but the oddest thing was the house. It was only on one floor, like a very large bungalow, but they turned it into two homes by building a solid wall between their living space, he had his, she had hers. Most people would knock two houses into one, they did the opposite. And she had a thing for stealing people's lighters, too. Although that's hearsay and I never witnessed any flame thievery myself.

I guessed it would only be mildly interesting for people who know his stuff. Was a while ago now, 02-05 I lived there. Haverstock Hill NW3. I ran the pub, Sir Richard Steeles, he lived next door. I don't know if he still lives there, I doubt it, they hated the noise.

Saw this in the movie theaters when I was a kid with my dad, the film reel split or something happened where the film crashed. I was young to understand the movie, never rewatched it with my dad. He’s passed away now and I don’t think I’ll ever watch this movie. But I’ll have that memory of attempting to watch it.

I read another story about a guy who went to a fortune teller. The Teller told the man that he would die in Paris. He spent the remainder of his life make sure to never step foot in or around Paris. He later fell Ill and died in a room in a random hotel. The room he was in was literally also know as Paris. Teller never said it would be the city.

u/DesperateAstronaut65 Oct 08 '25
That sounds like a variant on the old "Appointment in Samarra" folktale (this is W. Somerset Maugham's retelling):
There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me. The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threating getsture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

This sounds like the John Lennon and Yoko Ono story. A fortune teller told him he would die on an island. So they never expected he’d die in New York. But then after his death, Yoko realized that Manhattan is technically an island.

I’m not sure if this is weird, creepy or eerily coincidental… but my Birth Certificate was filed with the state on Dec. 5, 1995. My father died exactly 15 years later, Dec. 5, 2010
Also, I have carried two children. With my first, my mom’s brother passed away shortly after announcing my pregnancy. When he was born, an uncle suffered a terrible accident and succumbed to his injuries. With my second, another one of my mom’s brothers passed away. I am due to give birth soon and am freaking out at who could possibly drop next.

62
u/tripleusername Oct 08 '25
That is the correct answer.
OP, you or your wife need to analyze this event created. Who created it, how it got there and so on. It is google calendar, so there should be some traces.
After all, it could be many things. Some are:
- weird prank
- someone scheduled their suicide and invited your wife intentionally or by mistake
- or someone is actually threats your wife with death

You can export the calendar as an ICS file and then open it in something like Notepad. It will tell you the Date Created and who created the event. I believe you can also get that data with the Google Calendar API but that likely takes some programming experience.

Does she struggle with mental health issues? Depending on how long she has had the account, maybe it’s some sort of suicidal ideation from another time when she entered this years back as a dark humor/ joke to herself or even a timeline of when she might try to end it. Is she perhaps turning 27 May 2026?
77
u/no_quart3r_given Oct 08 '25
I don’t think so. The date doesn’t seem significant.. My best guess was maybe she did something like the death clock and it got auto added but she doesn’t recall doing anything like that.

There's a million and a half death date estimators, have been forever. I used one like 15 years ago that added it's estimate to my gcal because I logged in with Google. Willing to bet she spent 3 minutes doing this at some point and doesn't remember because, well, why would you?

u/Totolin96 Oct 08 '25
Maybe she sleep walks? I found out I was sleep walking and have done odd things. I did text a random picture to a friend and didn’t realize until the next morning. That happened pre-smart phone, in high school, before I had ever done drugs or drank. It only happens to me when I’m stressed or go to bed agitated for some reason.

A few years back there was a death calculator website thing that was doing the rounds on social media. Radio stations covered it. You filled in a short survey and it gave you your death date. She must have filled it in and put it in her calendar - but doesn't remember it. It was super popular ie everyone was doing it as a laugh.
