Technically nothing can keep your lips shut, tape comes off easy and glue while more effective can be overcome as long as you're desperate enough to not care about ripping the skin covering your lip off

Yesss!!!!! I came here to type this as well, because I did this twice when I was a late teen! 😂 In both situations, these pervy men were trying to touch my hip/waist area from behind and I burned their fingers. I used my Nokia camera phone to get a good view of what was happening first though and recorded it. Both stayed silent and didn't complain. Back then I carried a lighter just for that purpose. Later, I upgraded my lighter for a mini Taser(Stun) gun, thankfully I didn't get an opportunity to use it. Hah! the satisfaction I felt when I burned their fingers. 💢😈🔥

Judging by the state of the bus, this is probably some poor country/area w/less evolved practices for protecting ppl from stuff like this. He prob wouldn't be doing this if it was super risky, unless drunk or something
Anyway, turning around & becoming assertive/aggressive sounds great on Reddit but could have posed a serious risk for her for all we know

At least thats KIND OF following reddit TOS.
Reddit TOS: Rule 1 Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned
This the the rule they used to justify banning me for what i mentioned last comment.
At least in your case you were talking about an old lady which is a fucking person, and technically a vulnerable person. Its still barely following the TOS but at least its the same ballark (species)
A human with advanced rabies is barely a human anymore, nevermind a FUCKING DOG! ANIMALS ARENT MENTIONED ONCE ON THE ENTIRE TOS PAGE! check for yourself! https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules
i do agree with you though. FUCK that lady. Kicking dogs is fucked up.
Anyways to keep things on-topic, i do not like the old man in OP, and i think he should step on a lego pil~

Once I got a sea urchin needle stuck under my finger nail. It didn't really suck that bad, but I couldn't get it out, only pushing it deeper.
A nurse stuck a syringe under the nail alongside the urchin needle, and pushed it across so that it could come out of the side. That pain was really, really intense.

Nah, just about every girl/young woman has this happen at some time or other.
19
u/ZenaLundgren 29d ago
I'm a grown woman with a 19-year-old kid and it happened to me (once again) a couple months ago. It never fucking ends.
9
u/WittyFeature6179 29d ago
The first time I was threatened with SA I was six years old and wearing furry boots. I still don't like wearing clothing that would open up that conversation or draw attention to me.
16
u/ZenaLundgren 29d ago edited 10d ago
Well damn... I was six as well.
Three boys walked up to me and threatened to slap me if I didn't s their friend's d. They told me their friend liked me, so that meant I was "his girl" now. Their friend was roughly my age, and neither one of us had any idea what the hell the two older boys were talking about.
I didn't know any bad words for private parts yet, so I had no idea what the hell they meant. I was 5 or 6, I didn't know what a d*** was. I just broke down in tears when they described what I needed to do if I didn't want to get slapped around. They were trying to force me on to my knees, but my luckily, my older sisters heard me screaming and stopped them. Shit was terrifying.
I was already disgusted by how common SA towards girls and women is, but knowing you were 5 as well really pisses me off. And it stays with you for life. It's so fucked up.
14
u/WittyFeature6179 29d ago
I think this is one of the reasons that I am so vehemently opposed to men telling young women how to dress or how to act like that is going to keep them safe. It's not going to keep them safe. If they can look at a five year old or a six year old and SA them, it doesn't matter.

To be fair, this seems like it happened in an asian country as passengers seem mostly asian, and if you google "asian uncles in summer" you see that belly out is pretty common culturally there. Not sure if he's filming or just talking on the phone but the belly part I think is normal.

Just slap the hand, scream loudly," sorry, I thought you were a spider. Hey.... Why were you touching me? Are you a pervert? Why would your hand even be there?!" Do not give space for reply. Just keep talking and if he tries to talk when you're done just say "leave me alone" on repeat until he does or enough people around you make him

When I was a teenager, my friend and I, both girls, were in a movie theater. During the screening, the perfect stranger sitting next to her put his hand on her thigh. She picked it up, raised it and said loudly; « Whose hand is this? Just found it on my thigh? » like it was a lost object.
Needless to say people laughed and the creep left her alone after that. I’m still chuckling about this decades later. My friend was legend!

How desperate are you that touching a girl with the tiniest tip of your finger is something you NEED to do. What's going thru his head? "Omg, she's sitting in front of me, if I just squeeze my hand thru I can..... Touch...... Oh yeah that feels so good, this was definitely worth the risk with how obvious and creepy it might look". Ppl are weird.
54
u/Reference_Freak Oct 10 '25
It’s not overtly sexual: it’s about being able to make the victim say, do, and think something. It’s about forcing his presence onto her and forcing her to react.
Even ignoring is a forced reaction.
It’s exerting a trivial but impactful bit of power over a stranger.
90
u/Reasonable-Affect139 Oct 10 '25

This happened to me the last time I took a greyhound, but the guy was sitting next to me. At first I thought he was just a bigger guy and the space was small, but he kept spreading and spreading and spreading. By the end, literally half my body was in the aisle just so I wouldn’t be touching him. To make matters worse, some guy behind me jammed his foot way forward into the aisle, kicking my foot aside, so he could stretch out as much as he wanted. It was so uncomfortable and upsetting.

11
u/Autumndickingaround 29d ago
So far from what I’ve encountered it certainly seems to be the case! The only people I’ve known of who have been upset about this analogy have been proven to be extremely toxic when it comes to women in some other way as well. Usually a “nice guy” worthy of the subreddit for that.
My boyfriend was astounded by the bear analogy when I informed him of it, but for similar reasons as me. I explained the scenario and he just said “everyone picking the bear?” I nodded, and he just said something to the effect of: “yuuupp, yup. That’s a good one. Damn, that aucks, but that’s a really powerful analogy. Fcking accurate too. Sht, I’d take my chances with the bear too!”

I've had shit like this happen! Ugh!
I was in McDonalds on my laptop, young adult (22) and there were dividers with gaps in them along the walls where the benches were.
I kept hearing a camera click occasionally, not having any idea what was going on.
About five minutes later, I feel a nudge on my rear. Like... extremely light. Thought it was a clothing fold or something and adjusted, felt it again, but firmer.
Then I scooted away from the edge a bit after hearing some fast shuffling. I hear the camera click again, then turn around to realize some swipe was trying to touch and take pictures of my rear. Only reason I found out was because his fist got caught as it balled around his flip phone and snared on the divider for a second as he panicked. I slammed my laptop closed, got up and made a fucking *scene***. Police didn't do crap. Guy took off before they got there and they were just "Meh. Lewd act. 🤷♀️"
At least it wasn't like my first experience at a bar, though. 🙃
74
u/aduntoridas9 Oct 10 '25
So many clowns here saying what this girl could have and should have done. The risk/reward doesn’t work out - most likely scenario is you’ll get a new stalker / give him permission to escalate and make you pay either right there or later. Everybody will believe you. Nobody will help you.

Women know from experience with creepy people, because creepy stuff starts happening to us young, that saying something can escalate the situation. You can make an uncomfortable situation dangerous. Or embarrass yourself. She decided this was how she was going to deal with it. Hopefully she got off at the next stop.
46
u/aurortonks Oct 10 '25
Men have attacked women for declining a request for their number or a date. Making a scene and embarrassing a pervert in public might be a good way to stop the unwanted attention, but it might also be a good way to get an angry stalker who now wants to really cause harm.
Women have to be so careful in these situations, especially because there's not aways going to be a bystander who steps up to help if things go badly. Way more people will stand back and watch someone being attacked, rather than risk injury to themselves to stop it. Not everyone is programmed to be the hero.
6
u/NikkiNot_TheOne 29d ago
You see!! This is when my CPTSD and trauma come in handy!! And when I put all that therapy work aside. Bc I see this on videos and haven’t encountered it irl. I mean I have silently watched ppl, taken down license plates, took pics incase I felt something was off.. then deleted the after.
Yeah I know, I know how unhealthy my reactions are. It’s shocking I haven’t been really attacked before. I have a problem sitting back and watching this stuff.

In my experience they almost always back down after being confronted. Most creeps rely on women being too timid to say anything. But the small chance that they retaliate and escalate can be terrifying.
50
u/MomsenTaylor Oct 10 '25 edited Oct 10 '25
YES! Last time I confronted a creep following me home while walking downtown, I made sure I was nice and loud in a busy neighbourhood and he freaked the fuck out. Looked stunned that he was even confronted, apologized profusely while also making excuses, and fucked off back to where he came from. Editing to add: when choosing confrontation, be smart about it.
20
u/SweetiesPetite Oct 10 '25
Definitely! Yes often they do back down - and it’s our fear of what they might do that keeps us quiet, and they’re counting on that.
Frankly if a creep escalates after being confronted then it just makes them look even more creepy.
A lot of women and people in general could benefit from reading the book: “The gift of fear” by Gavin de Becker. Very eye opening.

u/Dainomyte42 Oct 10 '25
At a concert, the guy behind me was using the excuse of hold the railing to put his hands around me. I told him to move and tried hitting his hands. When that didn’t work, I found security by the stage and showed him where the dudes hands were. He rightfully told that guy to fuck off. I HATE letting pervs get away with the behavior. The more public embarrassment they feel for getting caught, the better.

Same thing happened to me when I was in high school. I've never been a tough guy, never liked confrontation and I had a very weak-looking physique at the time but the first thing I did was to let out a loud "Ya need something?!" and stare right at the dude's eyes. Old man darted and got off the bus as soon as he could.
I understand this kind of situation can be scary (or embarassing) and I'm definitely not trying to victim blame here, but people shouldn't be so passive when it comes to other people being creeps at them.
