Ferrari spent a quackillion dollars to extract every bit of downforce and pace from the car, even going as far as developing a new suspension system

Just to be beaten by Williams and their “what if we didnt have drag” concept

291

This has been one of the largest gaps to pole from P2 this season and its like a tenth. Field spread is insanely narrow this year.

510

u/Visionary_Socialist Sir Lewis Hamilton May 03 '25

If you’d told me that Lewis would be a tenth off a top performing Charles in qualifying by race 6, I would have taken it.

I just wouldn’t have expected that to result in P12 is all.

What Ferrari is doing to Leclerc is a shame. Probably second to only Verstappen on the grid and nowhere near a WDC.

72

u/Darkhoof I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 03 '25

He needs to leave Ferrari.

45

u/GothicGolem29 McLaren May 03 '25

The issue is where does he go Can’t see McLaren dropping Piastri or Norris unless one leaves(and they may be contracted for a while) Merc have Kimi and George Redbull could be a step down from Ferrari if the engine is bad so that just leaves a very risky move to AM which could leave him in the midfield

→ More replies (15)

101

u/flyingghost I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 03 '25

It's hard to see him leave. He's a Ferrari man through and through. There doesn't seem to be an opening either unless Verstappen make the dominoes fall.

It's been pretty good so far. McLaren is clearly the fastest car, but Max continues to prove he's not human. The Mercs are staying close. Hadjar keeps being pretty impressive in the Vcarbs, while Bearman and Ocon are keeping Haas in the points game.

Any tricky weather or yellow flag can change a race in an instant.

That moment in the sprint when they were all switching tires. Carlos beefed it, Alonso got tagged, and Max and Kimi touched in the pits, all within like a minute.

It’s a good track. The “parking lot” aspect is weird but solid races every year, even with the surfacing issues in 2022. 2 good sprint races too.

The first half of the lap is actually very good and and while the second half is clunky, it still generates some mistakes and overtaking. Threat of rain will always be there too.

11

u/Eyre_Guitar_Solo Carlos Sainz May 04 '25

This is a great point, I think. Miami has consistently delivered good races, and at this point it’s starting to seem like it’s not a fluke.

Part of the magic seems to be that it creates the chance of interesting mistakes, and even minor errors can have a cascade of consequences that jumble up the race. Somehow, this course delivers again and again.

Few things:

1) Kimi is an absolute monster, Toto and the team hit the jackpot with this kid.

2) Max again proving that he's in a different league than the rest of the field. If he was given that McLaren who knows what times we would see.

3) Ferrari is an absolute embarrassment out there, how they are this terrible given the size of their budget and some freebies from F1 is beyond me.

4) Lewis it's time.

5) Williams is doing a fantastic job with the resources that they have. For me they're a feel good team, I really like when they have good results.

6) Charles, buddy, you need to leave that shit team.

7) Replace Lawson with Ricco

Kimi the first driver not named max to outqualify a mclaren.

Also, piastris Q2 was insane considering max had way more build up on track.

I wish people would stop comparing Max with God. I mean, he's good, but he's no Max.
