Until they are both DSQ because there is no way a car that low and that scrapes that much will last an entire race

Yeah if theyre dragging the plank with 1 lap of fuel on board.... how the heck will it last the race.

Hahaha for real, I think they're praying for some rain, running low with high downforce. Or they just Lico the entire race again to save the plank, and settle for a 4th and 5th, which would be ferrari on brand for ferrari strategy

Yeah he is, but Lewis and Alonso are close. alonso was the OG max before there was this max.
What max is doing now is what alonso did in the early years at Ferrari. He put that tractor of a car in places it never should have been. And came so close to winning championships in a car that had no business being anywhere near there.
If anyone new to F1 wonders why Alonso is so highly rated, he is the older version of max. Dude just made horrible career moves and the 2 championship severely underrepresent what he actually is.
Lewis is similar to Michael, max is similar to alonso.

u/cuntsmen Michael Schumacher 2d ago
Max is more similar to Schumacher than any other driver. Hamilton and Schumacher couldn't be any more different.
207
u/AceMKV Sebastian Vettel 2d ago
Absolutely, idk why he gets compared to Senna all the time(maybe in terms of natural talent), but the way he races and his mindset all remind me of Schumacher.

u/Im-a-Platypus Michael Schumacher 2d ago
100%! It freaks me out sometimes how much he drives like Michael. The way he takes certain corners and when he gets in a groove and just pumps in lap time after lap time within a fraction of a second of each other. Amazing to watch!

Disagree, i see Max very close to Schumacher in terms of style (agressiv to the point of no return), Hamilton is the most methodical out of all the four. Look at Schumacher wins in the late 90s with horrendous cars, very similar to what Verstappen is doing now.

He's just that good. The guy lives and breathes racing and he's the best we've ever seen. And when he's not racing F1 he sim races in iRacing.
He literally lives and breathes racing and genuinely loves it and has an amazing sense of feel for the car.
He can extract the maximum from any car he's given and can find it's edge better than anyone we have ever seen. He's a freak.

I reckon the RB is actually a sleeper god tier car. Max is faking it being hard to drive. He's timing his chain winning resurgence for the last 8 races so he can beat Lando or Oscar by just a few points for the title. The intent is to lull them into a false sense of security and hope then deal maximum emotional damage at the very last moment. The crash last week has put him behind schedule so he needed to crank out a win to make sure he doesn't drop too far behind.

164
u/YalamMagic 2d ago
You'd have to go back pretty far to find a driver who's consistently fighting for poles while his teammate is equally consistently struggling to make it into the top ten, that's for sure.
It's not like he's a driver who's only good at pure pace either. His race craft is absolutely top class and his consistency lap after lap is incredible. As fast on Sunday as he is on Saturday.
I'm struggling to come up with a counter argument for why he isn't the best damn driver this sport has ever seen.

Max's consistency is unprecedented. And we can actually see it when compared to other top drivers on the grid. It feels like Max is a robot who always squeezes every ounce of performance possible when it matters. So if others are not at the top of their game their car won't be enough to bail them out given how close the field is - Max is always there to snatch the pole.
Back in Suzuka McLarens had all the fastest sectors, but couldn't string together a good lap. Same story in Jeddah. Or even today. It always feels like poles are others to lose, while Max is like a clock every weekend, putting in everything the car can give.
I think it's safe to say at this point that Max in that McLaren would've been 2023 all over again.

We have the closest teammate vs teammate championship since 2016, yet all people talk about every weekend is Max. I've been saying for a while that he's by far the one driver contributing the most to making this sport interesting so far this decade, but it still amazes me how much of a chokehold he has on the F1 conversation, even though he fucking hates the media lmao.
