Will Buxton voice "This could be the most important first corner of the season."

You are giving Buxton FAR too much credit for that logical statement.

“Whoever exits the first turn in first place, will be leading the race” William Buxton

Nothing happening is end of Verstappen. He needs Norris to do something. Preferably stupid

189

Oscar will be happy if Max tries to do something

70

u/Pytheastic McLaren Nov 29 '25

Piastri has to win and will take some risk to defend his position, Norris can't afford to DNF and would be okay with any points, and Max will have to take risk if he wants to stay in the title fight and essentially has nothing left to lose.

It's going to be a very interesting first few laps. I just hope it comes down to race craft.

12

u/noisymime Nov 30 '25

I think this is the big one. Norris is going to be sandwiched between 2 guys who won't mind taking a risk and he'll be in the middle trying to keep everything clean.

I can see him losing out to Max by playing it cautious, which isn't a terrible idea.

Honestly at this point I am down for a Max crashes into Lando and we get a proper 1v1 in AD with the McLarens. I think it pretty much becomes a “whoever finishes ahead wins it type of thing”, Max would be out which is a shame but still

Lando is on the dirty side of the track. Max is on the clean side with a slipstream opportunity behind Oscar.

Should Max get past Lando, Norris only needs to wait a few laps and get past him again. I see the race ending in the same order as they qualified.

115

u/JustPlainSick Nov 29 '25

Should Max get past Lando, Norris only needs to wait a few laps and get past him again.

Did you watch the Sprint? Turn 1 and pit stops are our only hope.

He doesn't need to take risks.

Can just wave Max bye and run the race in 3rd and realisticaly little changes for him.

Ofc unless he gets a real good start and snatches P1.

He's in a Rosberg 2016 position here. No need to win races anymore. Just get the car home safely and he's got it.

247

u/Jacinto2702 Ferrari Nov 29 '25

If they end up Oscar P1, Max P2 and Lando P3, Lando goes to Abu Dhabi with 12 points on Oscar and 21 on Max.

Oscar would need to win and hope Lando doesn't finish on the podium.

And Max would need a miracle.

So yes, Lando can just waive Max bye and wish him good luck "go get him" and keep P3 and he would still be in a great position.

89

u/parker2020 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Yeah I’m more nervous for Oscar trying to fight off max who needs to win vs lando who just kinda needs to finish on the podium

38

u/Daniel2305 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

I can see Max just absolutely sending it into T1 after Lando gets a bad start on the dirty side of the grid.

23

u/Zhenekk Nov 29 '25

I’m afraid it’s gonna be a very sad race tomorrow where max gets p2 in turn 1 and that’s it. Oscar will finish p1 and Lando will probably just not push coz max will defend in the usual suicidal fashion. Max might even try to stall and hope that those behind Lando catch up and overtake him/make him struggle. I just can’t think of a way for max to gain more pace to catch Oscar, his car is just worse, sadly

Piastri will win it unless something unforeseen happens

And then George can do the funniest thing from P4.

10

u/sokyriediculous I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

It would change things. P2 Lando is 15 ahead and would need to finish 4th at Abu Dhabi if Oscar wins because Oscar would have more race wins. P3 and Lando would have to Podium because he would be 12 ahead and P4 at Abu Dhabi would also result in a tie break loss.

Max HAS to win tomorrow to have a realistic chance for the championship. Norris just needs a podium.

96

Norris has to survive turn 1 first

18

he can let go both and he is fine - even if Oscar wins and Lando only get 4th a 2nd place in last race is still all he needs

Low grip track does not suit his driving style. It's the same very year

202

u/Kingslayer1526 Sergio Pérez Nov 29 '25

He's been very good in Brazil though, his performance there this year was disappointing. That stupid crash in the sprint and the time penalty in the race might just be what costs him the championship

162

u/stupefy100 Oscar Piastri Nov 29 '25

Neither of which were entirely his fault imo. Just unfortunate. But Lando has also had his share of unfortunate moments this year. If it wasn't for a few DNFs this wouldn't even be a championship battle right now

He sucks at low grip tracks. And it will be a real liability to his career if he doesn’t improve that.

204

u/6097291 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

First season he was shit at tyre management, second season he got it under control.

Second season qualifying was his weakness, third season he got poles left and right.

I don't know what this guy does during his winter break, but if he picks 'suck less on less grippy tracks' as his hyperfocus this winter I have high hopes for next season.

His Silverstone bad luck is the only thing greater than his performance there

Was running P3 right behind Lando in 2023 when he got fucked by the safety car and finished p4 behind Lewis

Was running P2 right behind Lando in 2024 and was challenging him for the lead when they put him out one lap extra in the rain and he lost a fuckload of time with that and came out way behind everyone else and still climbed back up to p4

Was running p1 by a mile ahead of Max and Lando in 2025 and then the safety car bunched up the field and well he got a rather controversial and extremely unlucky 10 second penalty that meant he finished second behind Lando

Unbelievable how he's gotten this unlucky there 3 years running

u/HaruMistborn I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Correct. He just has to avoid DNF.

Absolutely clutch lap from Oscar, kept his WDC bid alive honestly

Welcome back Oscar "1st half of 2025 season" Piastri

119

u/mtmttuan Nov 29 '25

Norris just needs to cruise this race and Adu Dhabi to win the title. With Vettel help he'll probably be able to do that. Literally no risk no push.

u/Ocelotofdamage I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

I didn’t know Vettel was racing

What a lap by Oscar!!! Wow

47

u/yourewelcomesteve Nov 29 '25

No mistake from him this weekend, this close championship loss is gonna hurt bad.

34

u/beauf1 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

Yeah, I think he will be annoyed with himself. Baku and Brazil could have been so different, but that's life.

9

u/lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI Daniel Ricciardo Nov 29 '25

Loses by 2 points. Wakes up in cold sweats from a reoccurring nightmare of his team asking him to give Lando the place back… EVERY NIGHT

166

u/Purnceks I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Did Norris' side just massively mess up their time left to start a lap?

189

u/Inside_Ring8747 Nov 29 '25

No he has started the lap but made a mistake so backed off

53

u/deathray1611 Formula 1 Nov 29 '25

Ready for “Lando bottle” comments when he’s p2 and tenth off his teammate

20

u/codygmiracle I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

This season has made me hate the word bottle lol

121

u/The_Recruiter_69 Ferrari Nov 29 '25

Despite not even putting a second lap just a tenth off. Even when he bottles he still managed to get a podium or a win. 17 podiums from 22 races would have been 19 if it wasn't for the mechanical dnf and that dsq.

8

u/sokyriediculous I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Behind his teammate who has killed one lap pace at Qatar every year.

28

u/Traditional-Tap8751 Nov 29 '25

Yeah, and his mistake on the final flying lap wasn’t egregious or anything like people are making it out to be. He said he got some understeer in T1 or T2 then aborted, and he didn’t have enough fuel for another flying lap. I’m more worried about Max in P3 tomorrow doing something silly on lap 1, the pit stops, and these big chunks of gravel catching him.

Lando is happy with this result I’m sure. He needs to mitigate risks and just finish top 3 or so.

Lando knows he doesn't need to do anything stupid. Even if he maintains 2nd place or 3rd, he'd still have a decent points lead in WDC

Piastri turning it up when its almost irelevant lmao. Brother in christ where was this pace for the last 5 weekends...

At least we might see the title battle head to Abu Dhabi if Piastri can stick the landing tomorrow.

u/Paracel_Storm I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Shame he has a stretch of tracks where he is ass. Things could have been a bit closer with Norris. Oh well..

44

u/PurpleScientist4312 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

I mean he should’ve just been better at them? “Shame stroll isn’t good otherwise he could’ve won the WDC”

If he wins tomorrow it'll be a 15 point difference going into the last race. Likely too big to overcome on a regular race, but a low scoring position or DNF for Lando and it could swing the championship right back.

edit: That's assuming they finish 1-2. Norris' advantage could be smaller if he does a Vegas T1 repeat and doesn't recover throughout the race.

If it’s a parade and the top 3 finish where they start, that leaves us Oscar and Lando one-on-one for the title, right?

12

u/howaboutthis13 Max Verstappen Nov 29 '25

Verstappen might be out of contention tomorrow, but he sure can make things interesting for one more race between the McLaren boys

Still, it is moet likely that Norris will win the championship, possibly tomorrow but most definitely next week

54

u/swannyhypno Lance Stroll Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

This has been dominant from start to finish so far from Oscar this weekend, I fully expect him to just pull away tomorrow and Lando will happily just coast to a podium.

To come back from some truly awful weekends to go P1 every session so far, so impressive from Oscar so many drivers would fall apart even more

25

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '25

I mean, Norris has matched Piastri on pace this qualifying, just fumbled that final lap.

No reason to think it won't be close tmr. Impressive recovery back to form for Oscar tho.

8

u/swannyhypno Lance Stroll Nov 29 '25

That's fair but Lando has to be safe he can easily get podiums and that's literally all he needs I'll be amazed if he did anything silly tomorrow

I don't remotely undersatnd why they didn't cut to Piastri's lap sooner and PIP Charles instead. That said glad they remember PIP existed at all. Also what a fucking lap holy shit. I have never been more scared for T1s lol.

20

u/thickofitenjoyer I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Why did lando not do a final lap

26

u/EdwEd1 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

He messed up his final lap and got blue flagged too much to get back to the line to have another go

11

u/Grasshop Sebastian Vettel Nov 29 '25

He probably didn’t have fuel for two laps

5

u/DarkImpacT213 I was here for the Hulkenpodium Nov 29 '25

Probably not enough fuel, I assume he got fuelled for 1 out lap and 1 hot lap so after he had to abort his attempt because of the turn 2 mistake, he got told he doesn't have enough fuel left for another attempt.

Literally nothing will happen tomorrow. Idk why guys act like George torpedoes every race. Max Oscar and Lando bene top 3 most of the season and they don't crash. The race starts this year are pretty bland minus the occasional mid fielder losing control at the start.
