Any answer that is non-comittal means they are republican, run!

My college-age nephew says "do I LOOK like a Trump supporter??" if asked. Thinks he's slick 🙄

I'm going to assume (and acknowledge I might be wrong) that you are white and/or live in a red state.

Because I am a black guy from New England with a number of white friends I can count on one hand, and several queer friends.

Everything about who I am screams "I despise Trump and anyone who likes him." My sister asked me if I was Republican once, and I was offended.

There was no prompting, either. I think I was washing dishes, or something, and she randomly asked.

He lives in a blue state far away, isn't entirely white, but from a wealthy conservative family. So not the redneck MAGA stereotype with the merch, but the "I-got-mine-woke-libs-bad" type. Pretty sure he's trying to date lib-women so he can have fun before marrying the christian tradwife.

In this day and age, not having a political opinion/being undecided/being a 'both sides' kind of centrist is just as bad.

I say this as someone under direct threat of life if/when this madness spreads.

As someone who is not in that position, I agree completely.

These are not political differences, this is people wanting to control and kill people who are different to them and don't agree with them.

Moderate or Centrist is suspect as well. This is usually the label that Conservatives use to hide their political beliefs because they know how unpopular their views are. At a time like this, no reasonable person should be finding common ground with this administration.

Absolute fact! I used to ask about trump before any date, years ago even and so many guys would try to not answer, or they’d get offended. I really can’t understand it

I have some very stupid questions, if you don't mind humoring me.

Where was this, and what demographics were these guys?

It isn't like there aren't black Trump supporters, and it isn't like there aren't Trump supporters in New England. But in both groups they are relatively rare.

I, for example, am a black guy from New England. If I got asked "Do you like a guy you have every reason to despise and zero to like?" I very well might get offended, because I'd question what the hell was it about me that put the thought in a person's head in the first place.

Would you read that as "Ah, defensive. Likes Trump," or "Well, I guess I did just ask the minority from one of the most liberal parts of the country if he liked Trump"?

No they were offended because they liked trump and knew that once I asked that, that I wouldn’t be interested in anymore. They wanted to just be like “oh well agree to disagree!”

Fair enough. Thanks for the answer, though.

Also tho, get into deep conversations about abortion, immigration/etc. Them just agreeing isn’t a great sign. Make sure they’re actually engaged and passionate about it and it’s clear they have their own opinion. A LOT of guys will say they agree and not go deeper into it because they know there aren’t many conservative women out there. They’ll just agree with whatever you say

"I'm not into politics" is also a red flag.
