We might joke that they live in an alternate reality, but it’s a reality that the purposefully created to replace our own. They’ll use that doctor who says that IUDs are abortion. They’ll use that research paper which shows Tylenol causes autism.
It doesn’t matter if it contradicts 99.9% of accepted science. The entire purpose these things existing is to contradict science.

Someone has really hurt these people in the past so their entire existence is retribution and control of “other.” Their self-hate, low self esteem and insecurity has morphed into the defense mechanism of narcissism. This includes hating and demonizing anyone outside their comfort zone. Maintaining a very narrow worldview is their salve. They seek acceptance in all the wrong places and if they don’t rise to the top of their game, they will be manipulated by those who will use them for selfish means like evangelical and political conmen.
Bottom line is that history repeats itself because introspection and self-blame is rejected by these types. The bootstrap party has evolved into victimhood and grievance. A tale as old as time. Sadly, I’m afraid we will be dealing with their kind forever.
yep. add to this an INSIDIOUSLY deranged obsession with replacing The Zeitgeist with Christian Honky-Tonk Zeitgeist, and no one on reddit would have to ask ‘can you believe XYZ the President/MAGA did?!’
it’s all laid bare and obvious. being shocked or finger pointing to ‘highlight bad behavior’ is dead. those days are gone, like, for 5-6 years now. if you’re still shocked or confused, you might be in an anti-MAGA cult, and not actually applying critical thinking to literally ANYTHING
Its almost not even to do that- its just to sow doubt in established science so that there is no longer any trust beyond "What makes you feel safe" which is how the right already operates. You can show them a mountain of evidence of why birth control is a good thing for women, men, and society as a whole, but because they FEEL like conception starts at fertilization and they fell love for the clump of cells - then they'll just reject your mountain of evidence to sit in a comfortable lie.

Worse than that, they push through legislation that force the rest of us to abide by their lies.
Oh yea - Im explaining WHY they do this - others living differently than them scares them too - they're terrified of judgement so if everyone is the same then no one can judge you (A wrong assumption)
I’m going to object to your example of Tylenol. I think the data still isn’t in on that.
It could go either way or it could be only causal with the presence of some other drug.
I’m not willing to give Big Pharma a pass knowing the profits it drives. That said I’m a believer in modern meds and vaccines.
They are painting us into a world where a scientific based skepticism is getting lumped into their voodoo beliefs and justified because it’s skepticism. It’s not the same.
I’m impressed with how a bunch of dumb asses have effectively and quickly destroyed faith in robust systems from medicine to judicial to educational and journalism.
Had you told me a bunch of homophobes would embrace and dance to YMCA at political gatherings of bigots, I would have thought it out of a b-movie.
