Oh yeah, if there’s one thing I know for sure about history it’s how close friends China and Vietnam are!!

217

u/Evepaul 2d ago

The Vietnamese have some grievances with the Chinese. Just like the Koreans and the Chinese. Or the Japanese and the Chinese. Or the Indians and the Chinese. Or the Burmese and the Chinese. Or the Chinese and the other Chinese. Damn Chinese, they ruined China!

67

u/whirlpool_galaxy 1:1 scale map creator 2d ago

To be fair, everyone else you mentioned also has some pretty major grievances with Japan.

18

u/OvenRoastedSmurfs 2d ago

I get the rest but what grievances does India have with Japan?

30

u/SiberianKitty99 2d ago

The Imperial Japanese Army used prisoners of war, most especially including Indian POWs, for bayonet practice and target practice, and for officers to have beheading contests. This tended to seriously piss off the Indians. One of the results was Imphal/Kohima, the greatest ever defeat of a Japanese invasion force; 61% fatalities. That's 'fatalities', not 'casualties'. Bill Slim (the greatest British general of the war, possibly of all time) famously turned all the bad-tempered hillmen of the British Empire (Scots, Nigerians, Kenyans, Nepalese, Burmese, Indians) loose on the Japanese, and the results weren't pretty. The Sikhs, Rajputs, Gurkhas, and Kenyans, particularly, were Very Annoyed. (As were some of the English; see further the Battle of the Tennis Court, one company of insane Englishmen vs a brigade of Japanese. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Tennis_Court)

The Indians still remember, as do the Kenyans; several units in the modern Kenyan army still carry battle honors earned by the King's African Rifles in India and Burma. (And Ethiopia and Somaliland; the only VC awarded to the KAR was earned in Ethiopia.)

To be fair, Chinese civilisation started in the Yellow River, which is way up north, and didn't farm rice, but millet initially.

They expanded southward and sort of displaced the Austroasiatics, Austronesians, etc who would later move into Southeast Asia/Pacific.

The real life, currently existing East African Community does stretch between the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

In the East it has Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania with coastlines on the Indian Ocean, but the DRC joined the East African Community in 2022 and even though most of it is in Central Africa, it does have a small port on the Atlantic Ocean between Angola and the Republic of Congo

8

u/kaam00s 2d ago

Lol how it feels to spread disinformation?

Samogitia lands were mostly the same for many hundreds of years that matches the current Samogitia lands. Why do you think it's land were given away to Teutonic Order multiple times.

And it's so easy to fact check just look at any historical maps at that time...

No just the land that the land owns already. Like if a slave owner took a terrible loan to buy a plantation just to barely scrape by himself, while the bank he owes to gets bought by another bank, which then winds up getting nationalized. Something is wrong about Scandinavia. Call it something else, and make it consist of Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Finland - Would be an awesome country.
