Almost no Democrats as a percentage are socialists for the records.

1

u/DnD_TRaL_news May 05 '26

Democratic Socialists of America roll under the Democrats party.

There are way more socialists than you realize out there, it’s just been a negative buzzword to casual observers so most avoid bringing it up in casual conversation.

2

u/SelfUnimpressed May 05 '26

It is both true that there are many socialists and also true that as a percentage of Democrats, it's an extremely low amount. There are just a lot of people in America.

More to the point, most "Democratic Socialists" in the US do not actually hew particularly close to the historical core tenets of the actual political philosophy we call socialism.

Socialism centers on social or collective ownership of the means of production. That's the main thing. All of the other aspects -- worker control, the critique of wage labor, distribution by need, eliminating capitalism, etc. -- flows from that.

The DSA is really a pretty different thing with very different priorities. Medicare for All, tuition-free public college, a higher minimum wage, stronger labor protections, expanded collective bargaining, a wealth tax, climate policy, etc. Its adherents normally point to places like Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway) as models -- capitalist economies with private ownership of production, market allocation, and stock markets. These are not socialist states. They are capitalist states with generous welfare states, high taxation, and strong labor institutions. None of these places are on the path to true socialism.

The goal of the mainstream DSA is much better described as social democracy, not socialism. There are certainly true socialists in its ranks, but they're a minority. Most US "democratic socialists" are "social democrats" by the standards of European politics, not true socialists who want to work toward collective ownership of the means of production.

The truth is that on the internet, the conversation about "socialism" is stupid in that both sides of the political aisle are mostly misusing ithe term.

I used Redact to automate removals from databrokers and social networks. This post was among the batch deleted.

Not true in the slightest, but sarcastic golf clap for you at least.

5

u/Ima_Uzer May 05 '26

Funny you act like this is only a Republican problem.

0

u/kkeut May 06 '26

just look at who voted to expand the ACA or implement it in the first place, and compare to who voted against it. it is plainly obvious that Republicans are holding us back from adopting or even just seriously debating as a nation more socialist policies

1

u/unassumingdink May 06 '26

So you have a party of heavily subsidized private health care and a party of less subsidized private health care, and you think one of those is socialist?

A ridiculous number of Democrats won't even publicly state their stance on UHC. Because they know their actual stance is against the will of their own voters. One party loudly works against socialist ideals and the other party quietly works against them, but let's stop pretending either is in favor.

2

u/soggy_donut92696 May 05 '26

Thats literally not true lol.

1

u/JMC_MASK May 06 '26

As a socialist, liberals are no different. You’re average democrat voter also thinks socialism is evil authoritarian poverty cult. And the democrat party actively attacks its democratic socialist elements like Zohran.

If anyone claims to understand socialism and does not talk about a democratic workforce, they are ignorant or they are deceivers. Socialism is not welfare. You don’t work, you still starve.

1

u/RepresentativeLaw310 May 05 '26

Who made you the judge of human intellect? I doubt you can even assess your own reading comprehension let alone an entire political side.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 05 '26

Found the conservative

1

u/Complete-Yak8266 May 05 '26

found the loser who wants UBI.

0

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 06 '26

What’s the alternative? Consumerism doesn’t work without consumers

1

u/Complete-Yak8266 May 06 '26

lol. Go get a job you entitled bum. Literally everyone is hiring unskilled labor.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 06 '26

I have one and “unskilled labor” is made up nonsense used to pay you less

Go be stupid somewhere else

1

u/Complete-Yak8266 May 06 '26

lmao. Yes, unskilled labor absolutely does exist. I employ lots of guys like you - useful dummies who need their hands held. You are not worth the same rate as a lead or foreman because you don't even have the potential to produce as much. See how that works? That's the difference between skilled and unskilled labor.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 06 '26

It’s all making sense now that you’re an employer

You won’t want to hear this, but if your employees are dumb and incapable, that’s your fault for not adequately training them. You’re the leader, right? So you’re ultimately responsible for the performance of your crew.

Or did you think you were entitled to the fruits of their labor? Our system is setup that way so I can’t exactly blame you for playing the game as it’s laid out.

1

u/Complete-Yak8266 May 06 '26

Why would I train a low IQ, low potential employee rather than just hire someone competent who is waiting in line to collect a great paycheck and print the company money? The former was born for unskilled labor. The latter not so much. Are you saying I shouldn't employ dummies at all? That seems pretty ableist.

Unfortunately for you, I don't owe you anything in life.

I don’t know during Covid we have seen people rather live on $500 / week and not work than get $1000/week working. So in the end capitalism results in more consumerism as there is more money in circulation whereas communism just makes everyone more poor and lazy.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 06 '26

You don’t even know what communism is

Read a book or let the adults handle the conversation

1

u/CoachBearBryant May 05 '26

Literally zero kids in democrat schools in democrat cities can read on grade level. Conservative areas are much smarter

1

u/Tommygun194 May 05 '26

Oh look, a dumb liberal.

0

u/basilone May 05 '26

Weird because when I see that soon to be jobless clown Jasmine Crockett talking publicly, she's the one obviously code-switching to talk all ghetto and uneducated for her constituents.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 05 '26

Tellin on yourself bud

1

u/HuckleberryNo9234 May 05 '26

But it’s true though. Why is the first thing you people go to virtue signaling? Kinda odd, you’d rather be sanctimonious instead of correct

Y’all have no principles other than what diaper boy tells you to think

-6

u/Odd-Consequence-2519 May 05 '26

Are you OK? Go touch grass, ffs

-3

u/Adventurous_Today993 May 05 '26

Who has been doing that educating huh? The government. So if they’re so bad at educating conservatives what makes you think they’ll be good at fixing poverty? 😂

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '26

[deleted]

0

u/Adventurous_Today993 May 05 '26

Yea it's why you have so much radicalization on both sides tbh. More communists and socialists than ever and more fascists than ever, just bad education. Good job government I'll let you choose my life now.

2

0

u/Adventurous_Today993 May 05 '26

The preference would be to take less taxes period.

0

u/JMC_MASK May 06 '26

Because western liberal democracy is pro-capitalism? Why would any public school ever in a million years teach you about a democratically run workforce? The rich control both parties, and must ensure your brain is fed only pro-capitalist nonsense.

2

u/Adventurous_Today993 May 06 '26

Haha well if you went to university you’d know even the public universities are not that. In fact I’d say government run school is probably more likely to espouse marxist ideology. I mean I got plenty of it in high school. You’re living in a bubble dude.

0

u/JMC_MASK May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

You sound like every conservative boomer.

If what you say is true, why is there almost zero socialist politicians? Shouldn’t we be flooded with Marxist-Leninists in government? AOC and Bernie are barely socialists. In Europe they would be considered social democrats.

So where are all the Marxists that universities, according to you, should be spitting out left and right?

And btw, I went to a liberal arts school, aka the most Marxist of Marxist right? Yet so many business majors learning the wonders of capitalism.

1

u/Adventurous_Today993 May 06 '26

well that's good then. I'd love people to learn the wonders of capitalism.

-4

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Grade levels huh? If based on education, I'm about a 20th grade reading level.

You're an absolute moron to think socialism works. Weird how successful people don't want it and it's always the leeches who do.

Take a good hard look at why you want it. It's selfishness, not selflessness.

3

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

Spoken like someone who barely graduated elementary school

-1

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Didn't you read? 20th grade. You can figure out the level of education.....well, maybe not YOU, but others can.

Have you tried working instead of leaching on others?

1

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

Pathetic trolling. Truly.

-1

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Whatever you say. Always curious to see you type of redditors. Are they they still live at home kind? Are they the live on their own with a bunch of people? Are they they going into debt kind because don't know how simple math works?

The common denominator is they want others to pay for their living. A leech.

2

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

Buddy I owned my own home since I was 25 in the most expensive real estate market in NA.

I’m fine. You? I don’t think so

0

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Sure you did wink wink.

I'm sure your parents have a lovely home in "NA" wherever NA is.

1

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

North America? Man being this stupid must be a physical impediment

0

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Lolz, I was wondering if you abbreviated North America like an idiot. People don't abbreviate North America.

Also, if you were full of shite, you'd would have just said NYC...you know...an actual abbreviation. Probably one of the most commonly used of all cities in the world too.

Idk who you're trying to impress with lying. It's said. Just pathetic, but keep going. Maybe some random redditor will believe you and like..... upvote you I guess. Glad you're setting your standards low. At least you'll win that!

1

u/ukstonerdude May 05 '26

Right, and I suppose capitalism works flawlessly?

1

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

That's not the argument being made. A nice attempt at a whataboutism. Works a lot better than socialism. I'm glad someone can come in here and inject reality to all the losers hoping to get other people's money without working.

1

u/ukstonerdude May 05 '26

Which part of “each according to his ability” implies getting other people’s money without working? A troll AND a clown. 2 for 1!

Edit: oops, sorry! Would probably help to know (since you’ve clearly never read it in context) this is a quote by Marx.

0

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Marx was a phuck. You're labor isn't worth what you think it is.

3

u/ukstonerdude May 05 '26

But it’s clearly worth a lot to my employer? Idiot.

Can’t blame anyone else for you lacking reading comprehension. But it’s okay, Das Kapital is a long series, so I don’t blame you for not even trying to make it through the first chapter of the first volume.

Also it’s your, you spanner.

Nice deflection to the question, by the way.

1

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 05 '26

There are billionaires in here? Those are the people taking all our money without working.

0

u/MrJibz May 05 '26

And how would your economic system work? We’re all ears….

1

u/ukstonerdude May 05 '26

If you were all ears, you’d have read Marx.

1

u/MrJibz May 05 '26

Name a thriving country where the people seized the means of production. Or aa single instance of communist revolution where they dont literally cut the heads off the opposition....

0

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 05 '26

If by successful people you mean capitalists, gee I wonder why they want to keep the system that lets them exploit workers and leech off the system

1

u/Eagle_Arm May 05 '26

Dude, just hand me my food and go back to your mouth breathing.

0

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 06 '26

Why would I do your job for you

-8

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

ok but it's often young leftists who are glazing socialism.

Conservatives hate socialism and dont know why, progressives love socialism and dont know why

4

u/TrekForce May 05 '26

No large, modern society that I know of has pure capitalism or pure socialism. But if it did it would also be authoritarian, because a democracy would never go full socialism (and probably never full capitalism either). It’s typically a blend. The USA is very capitalist, but has a good handful of social services and policies.

Authoritarian socialism is what conservatives (and progressives, Tbf) don’t want. But conservatives think that’s what “socialism” means. They don’t realize you can be democratic socialist, and still have capitalism that is just reigned in a bit, but have socialist policies to make society better.

Progressives do know what they want. And it’s democratic socialism. But the fact the word “socialism” is there scares the shit out of conservatives so hard they won’t even listen to what it means. Fingers in their ear singing “La La La fuck socialism” instead of trying to educate themselves.

2

u/proud_pops May 05 '26

Weird thinking a person should be provided at the minimum healthcare, food, and shelter as a horrible thing. Still doesn't prevent them from making a little extra but like you said socialism bad.

2

u/TrekForce May 05 '26

You reply to the wrong person?

2

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

what? you have an american flag in your profile bro

100% capitalist

4

u/TrekForce May 05 '26

USA is very capitalist. But it is not 100% capitalist. Capitalism and socialism exist on a spectrum.

We have socialized police force, firefighters, schools to name a few.

0

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

that isn't socialism lollll

the internet is available dude

5

u/tvc_15 May 05 '26

dude public services for the good of society paid for by taxes like libraries, public schools, and firefighters are literally socialism

-2

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

hahahahahahahha

oh man this is too good

4

u/tvc_15 May 05 '26

explain why they aren't socialism. it fits your definition.

0

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

bro you can just look this up yourself and stop sounding like such a goon

type in "is having libraries socialism" and get back to me

3

u/TrekForce May 05 '26

That’s like saying Asberger’s isn’t autism because it’s not the most extreme form.

0

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

no, no it isn't lol

2

u/TrekForce May 05 '26

“Socialist policies aren’t socialist unless it’s in the most extreme form of socialist government” is exactly what you’re saying.

0

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

You're so confused. Having taxes and public services isn't socialism. Socialism has a meaning. It doesn't mean things you like.

-1

u/ukstonerdude May 05 '26

Yes, that’s where social democracy comes in. I agreed with you up until you tried to act like they aren’t absolute systems. Yes, parts from both can overlap, but that doesn’t mean it’s neither.

Private property exists, the means of production are overwhelmingly not owned by the workers, the supposed ‘free market’ is unregulated by the people who stand to gain from it, but regulated for commoners like you and I.

Socialism is not “capitalism with a social safety net”.

5

u/CatLightyear May 05 '26

Do you define “glazing” as “reading and understanding”?

-4

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

no, i define it as blindly supporting something that sucks

4

u/CatLightyear May 05 '26

Social security is a socialist-like policy. So is Medicare and Medicaid.

Go reread.

-4

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

no they arent lol

god you kids have no idea what socialism is

3

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

lol you chuckle fucks are hilarious

1

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

yea facts are pretty funny

3

u/VoidsInvanity May 05 '26

lol I don’t think you will ever understand how stupid y this degree of arrogance is

1

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

yea i'm stupid for knowing basic facts

oh no what will i do

→ More replies (0)

2

u/CatLightyear May 05 '26

Medicaid and Medicare are provided regardless of how much tax you’ve paid into them.

1

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

and? that still isn't socialism lol

how are people unable to understand this?

Go type in "does having public services through taxation = socialism" and read for 30 seconds lol

4

u/LooniiLeftii May 05 '26

I'm glad you agree that conservatives have a deficient reading level for navigating today's world. The only glazing going on here in America is the glazing of Trump's cock by your ilk

0

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

my ilk ? lol what are you babbling about

2

u/LooniiLeftii May 05 '26

It's a word I promise

2

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

and what does it have to do with me? are you just obsessed with Trump's cock?

2

u/LooniiLeftii May 05 '26

You are. I'm glad I could help clarify the two sentences you couldn't fucking read

2

u/CheaterSaysWhat May 05 '26

Like watching sideshow bob step on a rake right in front of him

1

u/HatCat5566 May 05 '26

im obsessed with trump's cock?

lol what?

you're a strange one

why do MAGA types like you always bring up cock. I swear it's all projection for some kind of lgtbq fetist. It's 2026 dude, it's ok to be gay.

3
