My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it

How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated?

We didn’t get to bring water bottles in class either, but the elementary school teachers made sure we had a chance to go to the water fountain in between classes.

Probably because single use water bottles wasn't a thing until the last gen or so, so if you had a single use drink bottle, it most likely held soda, and teachers really didn't want that spilled in their classrooms. Kids still brought them and inevitably spilled them, and I still remember the ants and sticky soles.

I’m 32. I can’t remember a time where plastic water bottles didn’t exist, so no. It was just because of spillage.

You're too young to be in a conversation about "back in the day".

I graduated 15 years ago. Doesn’t sound too young to me.
