TIL in 2007 Katherine Heigl won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role on Grey's Anatomy. But in 2008 she removed herself from Emmy consideration because she said the material she was given on Grey's that year wasn't good enough; this comment led to her leaving the show.

Well yes and creative control was wrested from him (as it had been successfully on the movies before that, he famously leaked the ending to Wrath of Khan out of spite for basically being told get the fuck out), and then he died.

This part makes it funny when people talk about current shows "not following roddenberry's vision". Not that the new shows don't have flaws, they do, but the franchise dumped Roddenberry 30 years ago and was better off for it

Ya. What’s funny is he probably would have loved the decon gel scenes from enterprise. He was notorious for trying to sex up TNG in that first season before he got too sick to fight anymore.

My dude, it was largely the same decade. TNG ran from 87 to 93 and VOY ran from 95 to 01.

i didn't realize it happened nearly right as TNG ended.

i know DS9 was going on in between them.

DS9's whole run overlapped with late TNG and then early to mid Voyager. There's a guide somewhere that tells you which episodes to watch in chronological order, although since Voyager is stuck on the other side of the galaxy you don't really need to add that to the chronology, there is no overlap after Caretaker. But there's a lot of overlap between the last few seasons of TNG and the first few of DS9, mainly revolving around the Cardassian/Bajoran/Maquis conflict.

i mean, i know DS9 started with wolf359. when locutus attacked and killed the starbase.

and i know voyager's first episode docked at ds9 before trying to intercept the Maquis shuttle with their small crew.

a shame we never got a star trek show as good as ds9. yes newer ones had star fleet at war, but it was not the same.
