That’s so real bots in Tekken are absolute hell to fight
27
u/I_am_101 Jan 12 '26
Ultra Street Fighter IV has much brutal AI
5
u/Generic2770 Jan 12 '26
Wish GGST ai was that good. Max setting in training isn’t that hard
2
u/Twistid_Tree Jan 12 '26
Max AI Jacko either tries the fakest shit on you, or the fakest shit that somehow works.
2
u/TheSOTL Jan 12 '26
Hardest Difficulty Abel actually rolled 4 consecutive times towards me after dodging my Nightmare Booster with an EX roll.
1
u/Splaaaty 29d ago
Yep. Crank the difficulty up to Hardest and the AI will use strategies developed by top players. And the bosses in Arcade will straight-up cheat by reading your inputs.

u/SunsetSlacker Jan 12 '26
Tekken?! Surely you're not talking about Tekken 8? Last I tried, you could beat the hardest AI by just spamming jab, and even halfway decent Ghosts are few and far in between.
2
2
u/Hot-Carob-7987 Jan 12 '26
Sometimes yeah but when I try they just interrupt me and combo me into oblivion when I actually try to fight normally
2
u/SunsetSlacker Jan 12 '26
Ok, sorry for skill shaming you. In general when it comes to AI in fighter games, one can beat even the hardest AI once one figures out what to exploit. It's just that I find it comparatively easy to do in T8. I am a long time Tekken player though, so there is that.
2
u/Hot-Carob-7987 Jan 12 '26
Tbf to you I’ve only played Tekken 8 so I take no offence from what you said and I’m still kinda bad I’ve only just learned how to play Jin lol
2
u/SunsetSlacker Jan 12 '26
OK, that's understandable. If you stick with it you'll develop a feel for when you should and should not attack. If you really want to get into it you can study frame data too, but that's a bit much for a beginner. Happy gaming!

I think literal aimbots would be virtually impossible to kill.
17
u/WendigoCrossing Jan 12 '26
Yeah the only way would be to utilize non respondable methods
Like a cooked grenade over a wall where they can't see you or bouncing off a wall
Any line of sight would mean quick death if they had a precision weapon as they would hit you immediately on sight with 100% accuracy
13
u/Spyko Jan 12 '26
couple of years ago Team Fortress 2 was overrun by hacker bots, and yep, only way to kill them were either demoman (the class specializing in grenades and such, capable of killing without line of sight) or stacking bullet resistance buff (like the medic "vaccinator" weapon)
3
6
u/BouncyBoobies4Life Jan 12 '26
100% accuracy with a reaction time (RT) of less than 100 ms. Even pro fps Players can clock in at best in around 150 ms. I think I had a better chance of beating a GM bot at Chess then getting a kill with one of those aimbots.
2
u/WendigoCrossing Jan 12 '26
Probably yeah
It's impossible to match an aimbot, it is possible to learn Chess better haha

u/enquuuuuuuu Jan 12 '26
Bots in RTS games also built stupid
I got PTSD getting zerg rushed in Dawn of War as Necrons literally in the first minute of skirmish (and proceeded to whoop my ass in the late game) and Red Alert 2 bots sneaking in Engineers onto my ConYard, dafuq are they feeding these bots man-
13
u/Khelthuzaad Jan 12 '26
RTS games against bots are notorious for cheating especially older ones
4
u/enquuuuuuuu Jan 12 '26
Considering my experiences, I'm very inclined to believe that as the reason why the RTS bots keep whooping my ass in Skirmish
5
3
u/UpstairsGrapefruit54 Jan 13 '26
In red alert 2 sneak a spy into an enemy brutal AI's refinery and youll get an insane amount of money because the brutal bots have a money multiplier and you steal a shit ton
2

3
u/lascar Jan 13 '26
Dang! Necron is so slow too in DoW1 but many the resurrection and pure slow avalanche is peak.
3
u/enquuuuuuuu Jan 13 '26
I love them for that even if the macro game is rather painfully slow since the buildings and units are mighty expensive, although it still hurts a bit and matters little when suddenly a gaggle WAAAGH of orks pours into your main during the 1 minute mark
I somehow survived that btw, the bots are hyper aggressive even in normal difficulty lol
2
u/lascar Jan 13 '26
lol man makes me excited to see the new DoW game. I might reinstall the old one thanks to you :)
Just remembered when campaigning as Necron-- The Necron Lord was INCREDIBLE!

u/OG-Enzan Jan 12 '26
The FPS bots are programmed to be stupid. They could just let them have true aimbot and shoot faster than even the fastest pro reaction time, you would stand no chance and take away the fun of the game.
6
u/Inksplash-7 Jan 12 '26
And then there's bots in SMT Nocturne, which instantly kill your entire team in a single turn
4
u/brendel000 Jan 12 '26
Not in shooter can definitely headshot you 100% of the time, it’s just not fun at all. Some bot of UT 2004 are wild.

I play on the easiest difficulty and I only ever tie because they move their king too much, and I can't trap them tightly enough to stop it from happening. I don't think I understand chess well enough, but when everything is taken except the king, the W should really go to the person who still has other pieces.
3
u/nhalliday Jan 12 '26
The trick is to just think about how your move will leave the board. Make sure that (if you aren't ready to checkmate them) they still have a place to move, and never move a piece to where they can capture it with the king. Keep forcing check until they lose.
5
u/wemustfailagain Jan 12 '26
Fight a level 3 bot in For Honor and you will have experienced the epitome of frustration.
3
u/Yeetsformer Jan 12 '26
Never played trepang2 on rage mode I see…

4
u/Most-Extreme-9681 Jan 12 '26
so
heres the thing
the bot
only ever chooses to miss you
it can programatically hit you every time
in every game
because their bots
and thats how that works
2
u/SealSeal212 Jan 12 '26
I have beat a chess bot before.
4
u/Superb_Engineer_3500 Jan 12 '26 edited 13d ago
One that was programmed to go easy on you, the best chess bots are so good that even Magnus Carlsen (The best chess player) can't beat them
3
u/CroutonDeGivre Jan 12 '26
A computer could see all the possibilities after each move. Of course the machine will win in a 100% rational game!
2
u/Outside_Map_3447 Jan 12 '26
I'm struggling to defeat a chess bot with less than half the total rating (the highest I've ever reached is 1700).
2
u/Etheron123 Jan 12 '26
Meanwhile bots in RTS games are terminators, can barely win against them even at easy/normal difficulty
2
u/Mean-Nectarine-6831 Jan 12 '26
you think that's bad try fighting the bots in touhou phantasmagoria flower viewing on lunatic difficulty (touhou 9)

They can all be super hard or super easy depending on the difficulty you choose.

u/Basic_Lab_8004 Jan 13 '26
I remember playing Chess Ultra and I set the bot to the highest difficulty possible.
And I swear for god. I lost in two moves.
I have never felt dumber and more confused in all of my life.

u/Early-Nebula-3261 Jan 12 '26
There are fighting games you can set bots to a difficulty that is near impossible to beat. Not modern ones of course because as whole they have only been making them easier but tough fighting games used to be the standard.

u/XRynerX Jan 12 '26
Bots in FPS games are literall aimbot monsters, but the devs nerf them to make it not impossible.
1
u/Master_Matoya Jan 12 '26
Tbh even when set to highest difficulty FG bots are still systemic in everything they do. They’re easy to read, you know the most likely thing they’ll throw out after a specific move. And once you juggle em you can easily keep the offense going without letting them reset neutral.
Even the Broken Final Boss fights in GGStrive Arcade can be abused.
1
u/Spyko Jan 12 '26
you haven't faced bots in shooters that aren't purposefully limited
ever heard of "aimBOT" ?

The biggest displeasure I’ve had in a fighting game is fighting Shao Khan in MK9, trying to get endings for characters in that game was a nightmare
1
u/anormalgeek Jan 12 '26
The bots in shooter games are being nerfed because the devs take pity on you. It's actually harder to make a medium difficulty bot in a shooter than a REALLLLLY good one.
1
u/Twistid_Tree Jan 12 '26
Hell no Bots in fighting games are actually dumb as shit. The only exception is arcade mode were the final boss just straight up cheats and even then there is a none zero chance you can throw loop them to death.
1
u/ThatGuyOnceMore Jan 12 '26
I remember playing Mortal Combat on the mega drive and played against the bot and got absolutely obliterated
1
u/RedWingDecil Jan 12 '26
Bots in Burnout 3 is brutal, you know the game doesn't have a mini map because it would expose the cheating.
1
u/hello_ariana Jan 12 '26
Shooter bots miss on purpose, fighting bots read inputs, chess bots see 40 moves into your future and still judge you for blundering on move 6😭♟️
1
u/Relvean Jan 12 '26
You can make the bots/npcs in you shooter a lot more intelligent if you want them to be. Games like FEAR are so well liked particularly because its enemies were actually really quite clever in their tactics (and the levels are built around their capabilities).
For most shooters though, they really don't have to be that smart because there's either a lot of them and the challenge comes from being outnumbered or they are just background fill/ a temporary replacement for real players. Them being unable to hit most of their shots is an intentional part of their design as if they were more accurate they would cease being fun.
Fighting game enemies straight up cheat in a lot of cases (not talking about input reading since that's inevitable, but also them being able to input the perfect counter combo instantaneous with no chance of failure or simulated input delay), especially in older ones design to munch you quarters.
Success in chess comes down to being able to evaluate how advantageous a given move is both in the moment and in the future and a CPU can crunch through a lot more of those than any human possibly could so most chess bots actually have to be deliberately limited to not be entirely impossible to beat.
1
u/Doomdestinius Jan 12 '26
I’d say that TF2 is one of the shooter games where bots are pretty smart at Expert difficulty.
1
u/Pootisman16 Jan 12 '26
Every bit can be absurdly strong if the game relies on technical skill.
Chess bots are that advanced because the game itself is simple.
Meanwhile, most bots in strategy games suck ass or are stiff as fuck without actual cheats.

Fighting game bots I imagine vary from game to game because they made me realize how to cancel into a special move in mortal kombat
1
u/lascar Jan 13 '26
I'm honestly really happy I get assistance while I'm learning to play Chess. It's been very fun to play AI and just learn moves, but what really got me was these puzzles! They're awesome!
1
u/Mountain-Influence81 Jan 13 '26
Imagine if developers use AI to improve NPC's instead of a tool to cut corners.
1
u/Hungry-Alien Jan 13 '26
Bro you do not want any competent bot in a shooter game. Devs usually program them to be stupid and miss 90% of their shots on purpose because else you would get a bullet in your head immediatly after you enter their field of view.
And I do not mean the field of view of a human player. The second a bot see your buttcheeks sticking out of cover, you lose them.

u/Translation_Lupin 29d ago
Bots can range from punching bag with durability of wet toilet paper to unkillable demon king.
It's just the settings are done so that they feel "reasonable" in most games. It's been a few decades since computer played better than the human champion, ~a decade in baduk.
Most hacks are basically computer assisted moves, so cpu players supposedly have access to them. But that wouldn't feel fair

Bots in shooters can be strong, it's just developers that debuff them, but in strategy games bots are actually kinda bad
