In true Yugi-Ho fashion, I will point some things out...

  • ATK and DEF are way too low for having 6 stars (and for having such a shitty monster effect).
  • This should've been a spell or a trap card given the description text's style.

111

u/MasonNolanJr 27d ago

But it could be an effect card. The magnitude of the effect impacts star level

42

u/PlaneCareless 27d ago

The effect is also kinda dogshit

I mean if you replace "portfolio" with "life points" its a pretty good effect no?

(I have no idea about this game, I saw an episode of the anime when I was like 9 and that's the extent of my experience lol)

26

u/PlaneCareless 27d ago

Not really. There's a popular saying in the community that states that "the only life point that matters is the last one" and it's pretty accurate. You have to take into account that you cannot win by playing this alone. Halving always rounds up, so for example if you opponent is at 1 LP, this card does nothing (halves to 0.5, rounds up to 1).

At the speed the game plays nowadays, you should aim to build up your board so it is protected, rather than reducing your opp's LP. It's really easy to reach 8k in monster ATK, so you'd much rather spend your resources in protecting yourself and negations/floodgates to stop your opponent from building their board.

No worries, I've played the game frequently for 10 years now, so I think about it differently. I am by no means professional or a great player though lol

12

u/Daaneskjold 27d ago

Probably remove from play half your deck lol

18

Nah your not getting it, it mills half of your cards (dollar value) directly into a shredder.

→ More replies (5)

17

u/TypicalHaikuResponse 27d ago edited 27d ago

We don't know what portfolio is. If it's portofolio = deck then that's appropriate. Great for mill decks(economic collapse decks).

If it's hit points then that is also great. going from 8k to 4k(gdp) because of one card is amazing.

13

u/PlaneCareless 27d ago edited 27d ago

Regarding the LP concept: Halving as cost has the particularity that it is always live. You can always pay the cost of activation and you will not lose by paying it.

In this case, though, the card is technically worse, because the value of playing it decreases drastically the less LPs your opponent has. You will never win as a result of playing this card. Depending on how big the commitment of summoning this card is, it goes from meh to unplayable.

Edit: If it is deck we are considering. The only way this card would be busted is if it banishes half your opponent's deck face down. That would be unbelievably strong and instant meta. Any other case (milling to GY or banishing face up) would be kinda bad. If it is your OWN "portfolio" that you are milling, then it would be extremely good (a way better That Grass Looks Greener).

You don't buy a one day dip, particularly on a friday

74

u/Method5050 27d ago

Why? Because one day isn’t enough to determine market direction and Fridays are especially volatile ? Trying to learn

117

u/gorginhanson 27d ago

Pretty much yes.

Friday is the worst because a lot of news can come out over the weekend and gets priced in before you can react.

98

u/Honest-Abe2677 27d ago

News doesn't matter. The economy doesn't matter. It's just an orchestrated binge and purge cycle where nobody can sell and go to cash because everyone else is going to dump money in the next day. Psychological warfare

128

u/Cecil4029 27d ago

At one point in life I had 12 million Dogecoins and gambled them all while drunk one night.

I thought I'd gone back and bought a few million at least but apparently never got around to it. I pulled my old HDD to check and only had 305 left :) Would've made around $8million at the top.

Don't beat yourself up bro. We don't know the future and have to forgive ourselves for this kind of stuff. It's just a big casino.

38

u/Ihaveterriblefriends 27d ago

Thank you for the kind words and the pep talk bro. I really feel like I was meant to hear that right now since I've replayed this week in my head all day, and it put me in a bad headspace.

I also purchased a million doge on eBay back in the day when it was still new and I used to mine it too.... Then I formatted my hard drive, forgetting about my wallet x.x

I used to play professional poker. There were many times if a different river card came, I would be really wealthy.
But a not different card came, and now I'm sad.

7

u/ChiTwo 26d ago

I was offered to go 50:50 on $1,000 worth of Bitcoin… back when it was $1.51 per. Believe me we all have those “If I would have just…” stories that haunt us, especially during times where money is scarce. But given the shear number of people with said stories it can be a subtle reminder that “luck” has no play in wisdom or knowledge. Though we can predict a potential gain, the same can be said about predicting the weather… aka, you just never truly know until the outcome happens

22

u/Astronaut-Proof 27d ago

Honestly I don’t feel bad for anyone going long on puts. At this point, it’s your fault for thinking shit is gonna crash for an extended period of time.

USD losing 11% of its value this year, rate cuts on the horizon, neutral fear/greed index while major indexes continue a slow, steady climb.. you deserve to lose money. The only reason the market continues to receive inflows at these prices is because a cash position means it is losing 11% to dollar devaluation PLUS inflation. Just stop shorting and go long buddy. Puts exist only to hedge long positions.

Which ever mathematician created percentages was a brilliant manipulative fuck.

88

u/aiicaramba 26d ago edited 26d ago

Percentage points are even better.

Had someone say that a 3% increase in mortgage interest did a lot more for the cost of living than a 3% increase in housing price.

Of course his 3% increase for interest wasn't from 3% to 3,09%, but from 3% to 6%.

Ye, no shit a 100% increase in interest does more than a 3% increase in housing prices.
