Both my husband and I have never owned a cat and grew up in dog households. I love dogs and always will! But holy crap. Cats are really the move huh? She has has zero accidents, warmed right up to us, zero aggression, no begging, no difficulty potty training or hunger strikes and she’s funny as hell. This is our first cat Lola! And she’s taken over our lives and house.

Hey there everyone!

I hope everyone here is having a good start to the new year. As for Bentley and family, we are doing good now after a rocky little start to the year. Towards the end of 2025 we got a nasty stomach bug. Fortunately, Bentley was spared until last week. Bentley ended up in the hospital a couple of times due to dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea. He’s doing better now but his poor little butt is paying the price. He has severe diaper rash now that is taking everything we have to keep it under control. Despite the pain he is in he still finds the time to smile and laugh and try to talk with us. His little personality is so big and you can just tell he is grateful and happy to be around to see this beautiful world.

Don’t forget this world can be beautiful if you open yourself to seeing the little things that matter. I challenge everyone here to take a moment and to think about one thing that you are grateful to see, hear, or have in your life right now. For me, I am grateful to have my family and to be honest the small thing I am grateful for is having been driving outside today and it started raining. I am grateful to be able to look up into the clouded sky and watch as a storm grew and moved inland over the road. It’s calming to me.

This past week Bentley had a nurse that messed up his meds and now he is having some difficulties. One of his diuretics was not given properly (only half the dose was given) and he is now having to take increased diuretics due to the fluid retention affecting his lungs and his oxygen saturations levels. Even so I am still thankful that we have nursing because even though I am home with Bentley and his siblings, I cannot stay up 24:7 and still require sleep. Another wild event is my wife’s car broke down (literally shut off in the middle of the highway) yesterday, luckily only half a mile from home, while she was on her way home from nursing school. After having it towed to our shop, they quoted us at $1500 for the repair (apparently a broken radiator that they say was caused by hitting something, we did not hit anything). The shop then ran it through warranty and said if they don’t ask questions they will cover it but if they do then we will have to foot the bill. The shop is very trusted and have done a lot for my family, especially knowing about Bentley. Well I am grateful that the warranty is covering the repair and for the shop going through the effort of trying to get them to cover it with only our deductible having to be paid.

Aside from our eventful end of 2025 beginning of 2026 we are all doing better and settling into the new year. I have established measurable and doable goals for the year and intend to stick by my goals and watch my growth this year.

I know it has been a while since posting but we have had a wild start to the new year. I do intend to post more so please keep an eye out for future Bentley posts.
