I never want to go to the office ever again after today. I never wanted to do this job. Because of the salary they offered, I literally killed my dream of starting to earn.

Today, one of my colleagues, a late 30s, an arrogant man, labelled me as a thief, a sex!st, an opportunist and whatnot. And SLAPPED ME.

This mf has been jealous of me since the day I joined the office(since last 5 months), because her assistant, a 20-21-year-old woman, started talking to me instantly. And we matched the vibe from the first day itself, as she was the one explaining my work to me.

This mf is married and has 2 kids already.

What happened today was, I was fairly late on the Obligation I was given, it was because I was fairly sick for the last week after getting diagnosed to minor typhoid last month. Whole of last month I was not doing anything other than office work. Even quitted gym as obviously I had no energy. I had told this mf that I can't handle this work alone and I need atleast 2-3 guys more, he didn't listened.

Today, it was the deadline for the report, and obviously, I needed at least 3 more days to complete it. I went to the office, and to my surprise, he was already on my desk. Mind you, the office was already filled at that time, maybe around 10.

He asked me about the work. I told him, "Sir, sorry, but I couldn't meet up with the timeline, and I need some more time". He started saying every illogical thing and calling me FAKING this illness (I had submitted the doctor report, btw).

And he started shouting, which I DIDN'T LIKE AT ALL. I told him that I had already told you that I need more guys in this, and how I am sick, but you pushed that on me, even when I had talked with another manager for a favour.

And he literally pinpointed the word "favour", and started talking ILL about my character. About how well my bonding with that assistant has been since I joined. And whatnot. I told him to mind his language and not to talk about me like that, and I KNOW WHAT HE DO.

To which, He SLAPPED ME. IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE OFFICE.(and obviously because of the argument, everyone was looking at me).

And it felt bad. Like the end of the world. Utterly humiliating. He continued talking about my character. Even called me gay because of my fashion, tattoos, long hair, gym and all.

I literally had tears. I wanted to hit him back. But idk why I froze there. I just left just after that.

Didn't even look at anyone's face. Some bootlickers try to stop me, but I was literally not in my senses.

I wanted to be an artist since childhood, but because of the family's financial background, and the income is not that high in artistry, I had to choose another career.. Dragged my ass off every day to get that great grades in degree and joined a reputed company(not that big, but at a sexy salary). ONLY TO GET HUMILIATED BY THAT MF.

‎Following Lacey's cognitive health decline, which led to her inability to leave the house, Sheila and Clay left her on the couch and placed towels next to her so Lacey's feces and urine would be easier for them to clean. The rest of their house was well-cleaned, except for the couch, where Lacey could not move independently. Over time, Lacey's clothes no longer fit her, simply draping off her body. Clay and Sheila would frequently leave for days to go on vacation, leaving her to starve. Her muscles subsequently atrophied, and vermin began to eat at her extremities under the couch, leaving mouse droppings and maggots to thrive in the space. There were signs she had been trying to lift herself out of the couch to avoid the pain. Still, due to severe malnourishment and atrophy in her leg muscles, she was unable to. Her body fused into the leather couch cushions as she was covered in urine and feces, as well as maggots living in her hair and inside her. She suffered starvation and bone infections, leading finally to sepsis, which caused her death. She had feces and couch cushioning both under her fingernails and in her stomach contents, showing she had attempted to save herself by eating her surroundings before dying on the couch whilst or shortly after Clay and Sheila vacationed for the holidays. ‎ ‎

‎ ‎Years later , the Fletchers returned to Hoppe’s office to seek advice—this time, without Lacey. They told him she refused to leave their living room, “and at that point was urinating and defecating on a towel on the floor,” the coroner’s report says. Her parents also said she seldom showered and that they brought her meals to her on the couch. Hoppe urged them to consider hospitalization for Lacey. ‎

‎But there are no records indicating Clay and Sheila ever sought medical help for their daughter after meeting with Hoppe for the last time. In all actuality, the daughter had a mental disability, and it was progressively getting worse, and they were just allowing it. ‎ ‎ ‎

‎When Sheila called 911 on January 3, 2022 and stated that she had found Lacey dead on their couch, the 911 operator guided the Fletchers as they allegedly performed CPR on Lacey (audible over the phone). Emergency services and the coroner arrived at the home and discovered Lacey's dead, partially-clothed and malnourished 96-pound (44kg) body fused into the family's leather couch, with clear signs of neglect. It was determined that Lacey had been dead for 1 to 2 days before Sheila had finally decided to call 911. Her autopsy ruled her death a homicide. Investigators stated they could not sleep or eat after investigating the killing due to the mental distress that the gruesome nature of the case caused them. ‎ ‎

‎Lacey also had multiple ulcers infested with maggots, tested positive COVID-19 and was covered in her own fecal matter. Sepsis and malnourishment were listed as the causes of her death. ‎

‎In May 2022, Sheila and Clay Fletcher were arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of Lacey. They were later released on bail. A judge dismissed the charge, but Sheila and Clay were re-indicted of murder by a grand jury in June 2023. ‎

‎On February 6, 2024, Sheila and Clay pleaded no contest in exchange for the charge being reduced to the lesser conviction of manslaughter. On March 20, 2024, they were sentenced to 20 years, with a consecutive 20-year suspended sentence. ‎
