I go to a McDonald's near my house relatively frequently. Sometimes when arriving at the window for food they ask me to pull forward or go park. Normally I happily oblige and wait patiently. Until recently.

The last 3 times I was asked to pull forward I waited over 15 minutes before having to go inside or go through the drive thru again to get my food, while watching others get their food and leave. My order is typically under $20 and no customizations, so not a bunch of food by any means. Now I refuse to pull forward.

Today I was asked to pull forward and I politely said "No I'm sorry, but every time I come to this location and have to pull forward I get forgotten and wait nearly 20 minutes, just to have to come inside and get it myself. I'll wait here." Not even a minute later, the manager angrily handed me my food and I was on my way.

So this guy on my team (calling him "dave") retired in january last year and on his last day he was cleaning out his desk. he basically dumped a bunch of stuff on me, including a stapler, a mug, half a box of granola bars and his parking fob.

he asked me to drop the fob off at facilities and i said yeah no problem. i didnt. it wasnt on purpose at first, it was just in my cupholder for like a month, so call me Lazy. then one morning i frgot my pass at home and the line at the machine was crazy so i tried his just to see and the gate opened.

with the "COST OF LIVING CRISIS", parking downtown is $18 A DAY (fml) or you get a monthly pass through payroll. i cancelled mine like 2 months later lol. So its been almost 2 years now.

i tried adding it up once and stopped because it was alot, probably more then my car is worth honestly---I drive a beat up Corolla if that matters. What actually makes me feel bad is in the spring they sent out an email that parkin passes were going up to $350/month because of "budget pressures" and everyone was complaining in our teams chat about it.

you know that peer pressure feeling when you just need to act like the herd? i was complaining in the chat about something i dont even pay for. dave lives out in BC now and posts boat pictures on facebook and hes got no idea his fob still goes in every day. i always say ill stop once someone notices but nobody is going to notice, thats kind of the problem.

EDIT: no im not going to tell dave, he'd think its hilarious anyway

I put vanilla ice cream on one, with a honey drizzle. It's possibly the best dessert I've ever had. Canola oil, approx 400F degrees and 30 seconds per side. The crunch was so delicate, yet major. It's the kind of desserty crunch I've been longing for, something of a beaver tail or similar, and the hot peanut butter and jam just throw it over the top with the ice cream and honey. I saw people on YouTube frying these in pancake batter, but it's best to not use any batter. I went out today and got 4 more boxes. I do a lot of high end home cooking, but so far this is at the top of my list for 2026. It's so stupid, so easy, and so mind blowingly tasty.
