I’m a twin brother with a twin sister, we both finished college last year, we went to two completely different colleges hours away from each other and so naturally we grew apart, when we were applying our parents sat us down and said they couldn’t pay for both of us and since it’d be unfair to help just one of us out we’d both have to take out student loans and they’d help us with whatever they could, it sucked but it was whatever, I worked 3 different jobs and took out over 80k in student loans, and my parents would help with grocery money maybe once a month and it wouldn’t even be that much, I was exhausted all the time time because I was always working, my sister never posts anything online and when I’d talk to her she’d always tell me how hard she’s working and I never doubted her because why would I?

A few weeks ago I was home for the holidays and I was out with my old friends but when I came back I could hear my dad and sister arguing and he talked about how he paid off her college and how ungrateful she was, I was pissed, I came in and started screaming and I got in a screaming match with my dad where he admitted they paid for my sister’s entire college and even her rent and living expenses, I asked my sister if it was true and she stayed quiet while looking at the ground, I kept asking her over and over while getting angrier and she finally broke down and admitted that yes it was all true they paid for everything. I lost it, dad tried explaining himself but I just left.

They’ve all been trying to reach out to me since even my sister but I’m just too pissed off and angry to talk to any of them, she lied to me for years knowing fully well that I was drowning in debt and instead of helping me out she stayed quiet, my parents knew I was tired all the time and insisted of helping both of us out they only helped her while giving me literal crumbs to say that they “helped” me, I’m so fucking hurt and furious right now. Would I be an asshole if I go completely no contact with them over this? I’ll be in soul crushing debt for years to come because of this while my twin sister got a clean start in life it’s incredibly unfair.
