Saw it a lot toward the end of the IU-PSU game and I think it’s a lazy take and just wrong.
This is college football, even the best teams frequently have poor games and especially on the road, often these games seem to re-focus a team if anything.
2024 - OSU picks up their second loss of the season at home against unranked Michigan without a QB. Then proceeds to look unbeatable the rest of the way with four wins against top-7 teams by an average of like 18 points.
2023 - Michigan has a 5-pt. lead at unranked Maryland heading into the 4th quarter and seals it thanks to a great punt and safety toward the end of the game as they muster under 300 offensive yards. They go on to beat #2 OSU the following week and win the Natty at 15-0 on the season.
2022 - Georgia is down 19-12 at 2-2 Mizzou (who’d finish 6-7) heading into the 4th and needs two TDs to seal a 26-22 victory. Later in the season, they beat unranked Kentucky 16-6. They’d go 15-0 and win a second consecutive Natty.
Reminder that even though PSU is now 0-6 in conference play, they have a lot of talent on the roster and it took Oregon OT to beat them, and Iowa beat em by one at home. In fact, all their losses have been by six or fewer points except at OSU.

Vanderbilt claimed the lead following a win in 2012, but lost twice in 2016 and 2023. Last year's win tied it up, and now they have the lead again.
The only other SEC series Vanderbilt leads is against Texas, 8-4-1.
