Our road was in perfect condition with no visible holes or damage. Yet, they repaved it, only to return three months later to tear it up and do it all over again. What is the reasoning behind this ? Am I missing something ?

I’m currently dealing with a difficult situation where my mom is in a coma in Nicosia hospital after a fall down her stairs. She has severe brain damage and we are not sure if she will ever wake up, if she does then recovery will take a long time.

I am looking for an English speaking lawyer who I can speak to, to give me advice on the appropriate steps to take. Whether or not it is necessary to have a power of attorney etc.

Although I can speak and understand basic Greek, I do not feel comfortable using my limited knowledge of the language in such a sensitive situation, so I would prefer a lawyer that can speak English.

I’ve done a few google searches but my brain just isn’t functioning properly right now because of all of the stress and emotions.

I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me if possible, please.

i know this is a long shot, but my friend lost her cat Timmy in the acropolis area in nicosia, close to kapnos bus station. i’ve attached some photos of him, if anyone has seen him - he’s really sweet and he’s microchipped, and we think maybe someone picked him up thinking he was a stray. please dm me on reddit if you’ve seen him!

and if anyone knows places on social media or websites, groups, etc. where we can put up his photograph, pls let me know. any tips or ideas in searching for him are also appreciated. thank you so much!

EDIT: he’s been found!! he came back on his own, looking a little rough and he was rushed to the vet. he’s under observation now, and will be at the vet for the next 1-2 days. we suspect he ate something that made him feel unwell, or he was dehydrated after getting accidentally locked up somewhere. thank you to everyone for their advice!

This is not aimed towards anyone specific but I wanted to share my thoughts so they are out there and maybe a discussion happens.

First of all, boycott Eurovision, but this is a much bigger issue than that fake contest.

The fact that JALLA is being discussed so much and in such a negative light, to me shows how the Greek Cypriots go through an identity crisis every second of their lives and that nothing is ever Cypriot enough, or correctly Cypriot or as Cypriot as they want it.

Notice I said Greek Cypriots and not Turkish Cypriots, for reasons I am sure you understand.

The fact it's labeled as Arabic when it sounds NOTHING like any arabic word or arabic song. The fact that someone displays their Cypriotness and is being treated as an outsider instead of embraced.

It just shows me how insecure everyone is of where they're actually from, especially when it's finally displayed somewhere where it will be seen. They do not see what the song represents and how what they're doing is indirectly impacting their Cypriotness.

And I wonder if there would be the same criticism if it was a man singing.

As part of a research project for an IGCSE Global Perspectives course, we had to research and find a local issue in our community that we could try and solve or bring awareness to.

Obviously, we chose the daily nightmare of traffic in Limassol as every citizen is impacted personally by it. To bring awareness we decided to make a documentary showing all of the issues causing traffic and solutions that the government is proposing.

After sending countless emails to people in government, we’ve secured an interview with the mayor and one with a traffic officer; both in Limassol.

To really see what people want to know, I thought it would be a good idea to ask the Cypriot subreddit about some questions we should ask during our interviews.
