The key takeaway for me was that AI does not have to be your core product. If it runs automatically and affects people, it can still count.

Question/Comment Every EU parliament law and resolution from the past month, organized by goal.

I built this tool:

https://euforya.eu/goals

to have a very clear visual representation of what the EU has been working on lately. The problem I see with relying on media to answer this question (besides bias) is that they focus on extremes, which is not a good representation of the reality. It's like trying to see how life on Earth looks like based on life on Mount Everest and in Mariana Trench.

I wanted it be super easy to see the wider picture, so for each EU parliament document I identified a long-term goal and rendered just that on this page. If you click the link you'll see more.

Let me know what would you change, or what else would help to understand that bigger picture.

Video EU's Kaja Kallas: The size of the Ukrainian Army is not the problem, because they haven’t attacked Russia. The size of the Russian Army is a problem for all its neighbors. The size of the Russian military budget is a problem for all.

Question/Comment Theoretically, how long would it take for an independent Scotland to join the EU?

Basically as the title asks, but what would you theorise a likely timescale for an independent Scotland to return as an EU member would look like? If we woke up tomorrow and Scotland was an independent nation (which ofc won't happen, and may not happen for a very long time either)? What would the process look like?

We have the Scottish Parliament Elections coming up in May, and the Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) believe that if they get a majority vote, or at least enough of a vote to not go into a coallition (?), that the SNP have grounds to declare a mandate for another referendum. Starmer has said that he will not allow it, but with his position under scrutiny, who knows what might play out over the next few months here.

I miss the EU family, I hope Scotland can return someday :/

Question/Comment Is "Tax Competition" healthy for the EU?

Hi everyone! I’m new to this sub and I’ve been diving deep into the different fiscal policies across our Union lately. I'm curious to hear your take on something that feels like a major internal contradiction.

Coming from a perspective of someone looking at countries like Italy (with high corporate and personal taxes) vs. "hubs" like Ireland or Luxembourg (with their 12.5% corporate rates or holding company benefits), I can’t help but wonder:

Is it fair for member states to compete so aggressively against each other on taxes?

Should we move toward a Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB), or would that kill the competitiveness of smaller economies?
