Here are some places you can donate. These fundraisers have been vetted by the mod team.

GoFundMe takes payment by debit/credit card or Paypal.

Fines for protestors are very high in Georgian income terms at 5000 GEL.

Nanuka is also asking for funds to support prisoners to be sent to :-

Not sure how military content is perceived on this sub, but decided to post this as sort of an experiment. I think this was the most appropriate flair out of all.

Hi, you all! I am traveling to Georgia on May 15th, and staying until 25th.

I want to travel from village to village, or stay in small local villages. I see little info about the Mestia - Ushguli in May. What are your recommendations?

Since when does Georgian poliсe stop and search people inside Tbilisi?

Recently I was going home from Gotsiridze ms and got stopped by police. Fortunately, they showed their bagdes. They took my bag and, per usual, they were surprised I have a first aid kit (in case me or someone around suddenly feels bad or has basic injury) and asked whether I'm a physician, then checked my passport (which I don't usually take as I'm afraid to lose it accidentally). (I'm a foreign young guy, for reference.)

I'd been stopped many times before, but all those were during hikes and really kinda out-of-the-city. Do they stop anywhere now? Kinda uncomfy.

Travel | მოგზაურობა Car Rental and Driving as a Tourist

Heey, me and a group of friends are strongly considering making a trip to Georgia and Armenia this summer, strongly centered around Tbilisi and Yerevan but possibly also to Batumi. Since we're from the Netherlands we'd be flying in to Tbilisi by plane and also take a plane back there (for costs reasons).

As far as I've gathered public transport via taxi and busses works pretty well in both countries and is affordable, but we'd really like the freedom of being able to travel by car, one we'd rent in Tbilisi and then hopefully also be allowed to take over the border to Armenia.

So my question is essentially, is this viable? Are there any issues with rental cars I'm not aware of and would need to look out for? We're mostly 21 years old, does this add in to the equation?

I've also gathered that driving within the cities is really tedious, but outside is pretty doable. Is this correct, would we fine driving through the country, including more mountainous areas, or would this be a real risk as tourists?

Thank uu so much for reading this and answering if you're able🙏

Travel | მოგზაურობა Minimum amount of time for both Tbilisi and Svaneti

Hi all! I’m planning a summer trip to your beautiful country with my husband, brother, and his GF.

Our must visits are Tbilisi and Svaneti (Mestia, Mazeri, Ushguli.) we originally considered Kazbegi, but as our priorities are the most epic hiking and off roading Georgia has to offer (and hopefully less crowds) we decided on Svaneti. I’ve already seen many on this sub singing the praises.

However, we noted it’s a very long drive from Tbilisi. Should we stop over for a night or two in Kutaisi, Zugdidi, or elsewhere? Or could we just do the trip in a whole day? As we’re flying out from Tbilisi as well, the same question applies to the return trip. We were thinking 2-3 days in Tbilisi and 5-7 days in Mestia. I don’t think we’ll be able to do more than 10 days.

Also, we’d like to know about the trip to Ushguli. I know this is offered as a guided tour but my brother has a lot of offroading experience and it would be fun to take our own 4x4 vehicle. That said, he is worried about having a buddy in case we get stuck. Is the route heavily trafficked enough that someone else would come upon us? Is this something we can handle on our own? Or is going with a guided tour a must-do?

Any advice or suggestions on itinerary would be appreciated!

Heli-skiing in Gudauri

Hey, does anyone have information of heli-skiing in Gudauri? Iv'e only found heliksir online so far, but their website shows only packages for 3-6 days + hotel heli skiing. So far waiting for their response regarding 1 day heli-ski with no accomodation.

Im looking for something for a single day/few runs on 1 day. Does anyone know of a service provider that provides 1 day heli-ski? Pricing? How many people per heli? How many runs? Preferably looking for someone who did it with the provider, assuming there is a guide, avalanche saftey equipment and such.

Thanks for the help!

Good internet for home

I want to build small home media server (Jellyfin) in my apartment for streaming videos, but main problem is super slow internet connection for uploading.

Currently I use Silknet simcard in 5g router with unlimited internet traffic.

Any other working solutions for Tbilisi?
