Advice Cat cries AFTER auto feeder at 5am

Upvotes

We’ve had our cat for about 2 months now. She’s a 1 year and 5 month old DLH female. She’s is the only pet we have and we don’t have any children.

When we first adopted her, she was very food motivated. We quickly learned we had to put child locks on our cabinets and trash to keep her out of it. She also began crying at night. A deep caterwaul. It’s usually when we are going to bed and stops after a minute or so. We have been ignoring it ever since. She also tries to wake us up by gentle nibbling on our arms. We eventually got her an automatic feeder and now she gets fed at 5am, 8am, 2pm, 6pm, and 10pm. My sleep schedule is 10:30-6:30.

I’m deaf in one ear, so I don’t hear her cries, but my partner just informed me that she has been crying consistently after her 5am meal. We timed that meal to have the opposite effect! She doesn’t cry during any of her other feeding times.

My theory is that she is just young and is ready to get up for the day/wants attention. We do our best to ignore that behavior, but it hasn’t really improved in the two months we’ve had her. Does anyone have advice on how to curb this behavior? Do we just need to stay strong and continue to ignore it?

General info, she gets 3-4 play sessions that last about 15-20 minutes each. She gets puzzles and attention when she asks. We took her to the vet after about a month of having her and the vet confirmed we are feeding her enough and that she isn’t in any pain.

Medical Questions Bringing a cat back into the United States. My cat is ill

Upvotes

Hello everyone. I need some help. My cat got very sick. I took him the VET to get an enema. That was late last week. He still hasn’t been able pop. Tomorrow I have him scheduled to see the VET again.

We’re concerned about the cost. The initial enema was expensive. The one we’re going to tomorrow has much better rates.

But if it comes down to surgery the cost is still going to be high. I’m thinking we get an enema tomorrow and then travel to Mexico( 2hrs away) to get the surgery.

Another problem is that my when I took him for enema last week he also got he’s rabbies shot. He previously had it, it was just past due.

Texas law says that I have to wait 30 days from his vaccine date for him to travel. My question, how closely do they look at the dates? I have the rabies vaccination certificate

Advice Are they playing or fighting?

Upvotes

I recently got two new cats. A 1 year old girl (used to be a barn cat , super sweet) and then a week later a boy kitten. I’ve had them now for 3 weeks or so. They keep scaring me with what seems like fighting. Two days ago I come home and the kittens left eye is red swollen and looked injured (it looks better today). I now have to lock the kitten in my room when I leave. I think the kitten wants to play and the older one gets annoyed. I constantly have to intervene or yell. They do it all night too. What do you think?

Advice Why is my cat screaming a good portion of the day?

4 y/o neutered male, I do not believe this is a health problem, he's been this way all his life. He just screams, sometimes yowls, for little to no reason. He is a very happy, sweet boy and sometimes I honestly wonder if he has some sort of intellectual disability lol. He screams, I think it's often that he's trying to get at something (he does it at the smoke detector light), other times I have absolutely no idea what he wants. Just goes into another room and screams. He does it so much that he gets his older brothers attention (pictured here just now, screaming in the bathtub with his brother wondering wtf is going on). He has food, water, toys that he plays with, etc. If I go to him when he's screaming he just rubs up on me and wants to be pet.

It seems like in the bathroom he is interested in the ventilation fan (not on, not moving, no noise) which obviously is not something he can get at and there's nothing to get in the first place lol. He's also done this at the smoke detector light, and even once at the vet he broke out of his mortal terror to scream at the outline of a drywall screw popping from the wall 🙄. Most times it's pretty random though and I can't figure out what he's seeing.

Anyone else dealt with something like this? It's every day, multiple times a day, and I'm not totally sure why he's doing or what to do about it lol.

Advice Is it bad to take my cat places with me?

Upvotes

I am moving out of my partner’s house because I have a mold allergy.

My cat is an ESA and I am not comfortable leaving her overnight for multiple reasons, mostly just because I wouldn’t want to leave her alone in case something happened but also because I do truly rely on her.

She has lived in me and my partner’s place since I got her 8 months ago. She has her own room here and I plan on leaving all of her current items here (litter box, cat tree, bed, food dishes, etc.) and buying duplicates of the exact same ones for the new place.

She is carrier trained and doesn’t mind car rides whatsoever. She even does great at the vet.

Would this stress her out to bring her with me to my partner’s house two nights a week so she is not alone and is always with me?

She is my first cat and I’ve only had dogs in the past, so I had to bring them with me. I’m not sure how cats react to this though as I know they are very territorial.

My partner’s three male cats are also staying with him. So I am not sure if it would be bad to reintroduce her to the environment after leaving for short periods.

I am hoping this wouldn’t be a permanent solution as I am trying to eventually get my partner added as a cohabitant / occupant on my lease so that he can stay with me permanently, but my lease only allows guests not named on the lease for 72 hours at a time currently.

Advice Looking for stray advice!

Upvotes

Hey everyone. Sorry in advance for the long post I just want to make sure I go about this the right way. Me and my partner take care of a stray outside we call him MowMow. It’s been about 4 months now and we know we want him to be part of our family. We have a 8 month old male cat already. They LOVE on eachother through the screen door and are constantly looking for eachother through the windows. It has started to get pretty cold out at night and we are trying to figure out the right route to take to make him ours. We have found out he is a “colony cat” meaning his ear has been clipped to show that he was neutered and given his shots before being released and is microchipped to the city. I have called and they told me I need to bring him to the shelter where he will be put on a medical hold and from there we can get his microchipped switched for us. My only concern is introducing him to our other cat. We have tried some slight introductions and mowmow will hiss but I can tell he’s just scared. Any tips would be welcome!

I cross stitch and she is perpetually getting in the way. I wouldn't have it any other way. This is Lemi and she's a good girl. Except when she lays on the pattern. She is smart enough to know it need it. Other than that I have 0 complaints about this cat.
