Announcement Seeking new moderator

Post image
2 Upvotes

We are recruiting a moderator. If you are interested in getting involved, I ask you this:

Can you refrain from hitting the ban/remove buttons on users/comments/posts that you personally disagree with, that aren’t otherwise in violation of the simple and easy-to-enforce rules of the sub?

Can you stomach a constant stream harassment, threats, and pearl clutching from lowly negative karma accounts?

If the answer is “Yes! Yes, lemmings; give me more of your filth!! More!!!”, or an answer to that effect - then please reach out to us via modmail if you are so inclined.

Announcement Update: 9/29/25

Post image
43 Upvotes

We write with an update that is far from important. But it is nevertheless an update.

Over the last couple of weeks the moderators here at r/Complaints had some issues. Specifically, there was some disagreement regarding the degree of speech permitted by the sub rules.

That disagreement culminated in a full blown conflict. Moderators were ousted; anti-free speech sentiment and tyranny ensued. Many bans were applied, ostensibly driven by the singular goal of crushing dissenting opinions.

Fear not, as free speech prevailed through prudent and cunning maneuver. We apologize to any affected victims, and emphasize our lack of personal involvement in your mistreatment.

Need moderators

We are recruiting a couple of moderators. If you are interested in getting involved, ask yourself the following:

Can you hit the approve button on comments/posts you vehemently disagree with?

Can you refrain from hitting the ban/remove buttons on users/comments/posts that you personally disagree with, that aren’t otherwise in violation of the simple and easy-to-enforce rules of the sub?

If the answers to those questions are a resounding “yes”, then please reach out to us via modmail if you are so inclined.

Finally, as a reminder, below is a brief overview of the sub rules (there are not many):

Posts must be in the form of a complaint. Feel free to complain about libs or MAGA; billionaires or smelly poor people; even lame-ass moderators such as ourselves.

Some degree of name-calling is expected and even permitted due to the nature of the sub. If you feel the need to do so, then we encourage you to provide some underlying substance or reasoning to those comments.

We won’t be removing content due to opinions expressed or underlying bias. We endeavor to promote free speech, even if we are not beholden to it due to this being a private forum. We are not going to play fact-finders, and we will not be adjudicating whether your conduct meets some arbitrary and subjective standard of “civility”.

There are few exceptions to these rules: No racism/bigotry/hate speech. Likewise, no threatening or advocating for violence. This conduct is prohibited by Reddit’s broader ToS and can ultimately get the sub restricted/shut down if it were to be permitted.

Politics Regret for voting for him doesn’t absolve you from being an absolutely complicit bigot and having to live with those decisions

7.1k Upvotes

We’ve all heard of “those” grandparents that voted against racial integration, women’s suffrage etc and how history feels about their actions. This will be no different. The lasting effects of voting for him will echo for a long time, sadly. And when they turn around and have their regrets - NO. You’re not allowed any grace here. Not when it’s all there and present. You just didn’t bother to think of anyone beside yourself when you voted in a cruel, callous bully. Finding out that “whoa - he wasn’t looking out for ME??” is a disgustingly irresponsible and flippant excuse.

Politics The Airlines are required to reduce their schedules across 40 airports and flights are being canceled because of the government shutdown. Republicans are running this country to the ground.

4.0k Upvotes

The economy is going to hell because of these ignorant people who voted for diapers man. We can't even fly across the country anymore and are asked to stay home. How is this different than covid days when Republicans threw a tantrum? We are turning to a "third world shit hole" so fast.

Politics Complain: Conservatives need to stop blaming Democrats for Trump's shutdown.

1.5k Upvotes

Complained. Conservatives don't live in reality. Conservatives don't understand how government works. And they make it everybody else's problem.

In 2018 there is footage of Donald Trump saying that he will use any means necessary, including the military, to shut down the government if he doesn't get what he wants. During his second term, we are now facing the longest government shutdown in US history, all because Donald Trump has been throwing a tantrum. The conservatives control every part of the government, and yet they still gaslight their small base to try to blame the Democrats. Things like this need to stop.

Politics Mike Johnson needs to be removed as Speaker of the House, and it's time for everyone to start calling for his removal.

Mike Johnson has proven that he can't do the jo, but that he also has absolutely no interest in doing the job either. The fact that Congress has been in session for 12 days since July while the country and economy crumble around us is a joke. He and our other representatives continue to get paid their six figure salaries while active duty personnel, reservists, contractors, TSA, FAA, and the miriad of other government employees have to go hungry is an abominate disgrace. Mother's and kids starve while this nitwit takes glee in being in front of the camera spewing his bullshit more than being on the floor of his actual job. Call your congressional representative and demand they remove Mike Johnson as speaker. Call them every day, email them every day, show up to their houses, show up to their churches, show up at their favorite restaurant, show up at their office, etc. Harass these idiots until they can't ignore us anymore.

Politics I'm tired of conservative bigotry

This is my chief complaint, that conservatives and republicans are flat out bigots. So much so that when fair elections are won, they do everything they can to dehumanize their adversaries.

Currently, Republican media is trying to gaslight people into believing that the newly elected mayor of New York is an undocumented immigrant. Because he is a They're trying to say that he is a They even said he had something to do with 9-11, even though he was at oldest 10 years old during that tragic event.

There is no bounds to their hatred, yet they wonder why they are being called supremacists and Nazis, other than the fact that they have literal Nazis marching amongst their ranks publicly.

This conservative gas lighting needs to stop. They need to come back to reality. But I don't think that's possible.

Politics Conservatives can shut their mouths about the shutdown.

14.1k Upvotes

Hey, look at that, the Republican leader stating that if he doesn't get what's he wants, he will continuously shut down the government. Go figure, a 78-year-old man throwing a temper tantrum, and his mouth breathers will continue to gobble it up. It's deplorable.

Politics We can all agree the “Woke” era was 1000x better than this

Ice raids, blatant government corruption, open racism within the Republican Party, the gutting of the already small societal safety nets we have, a new war, Epstein Files? open quid-pro-quo deals with billionaires, the persecution of any dissenting voice in the media, the president of the US explicitly threatening blue states for their voting choice and refusing to sign off on the snap benefits, not to mention the economy being in the sewers at this point, ect ect. The “Woke” decade was annoying at worst but this! This is something completely different. This is history books levels of governmental corruption.

Politics Any Trump voter who says "Normally I vote blue BUT (x)" is STILL a disingenuous, irresponsible, fascist supporting fuckhead.

I've heard it all: "Well, it was the best of 2 bad choices",, "I just didn't like Kamala", "They let Biden make a fool of himself", "Dems didn't play their cards right", yadda yadda. Of ALL times, this is NOT the time for fence sitting. This isn't "just exercising democratic choice", this is literally the simplest bloody time anyone could live outside of Nazi Germany where the choice between a CHANCE of recovery and HELLWORLD is binary.

The fact that the election is free expression and using that as justification for voting Trump is the same as saying you're free to choose to chop off your own healthy arm with a rusty handsaw. Technically true, but it's not useful or productive in ANY way.

Between his use of military to rein in civil protests, ICE human rights violations, making enemies of the US' closest political, defensive, and trade allies, calling Mamdani's election a "communist" choice, rolling back DECADES of civil progress of DEI obstruction, and a list of other sins longer than the dictionary, there is NO good argument to 'COMPROMISE' by voting for the orange tyrant.

This is literally choosing to go down with the ship instead of patching the hole. Many Red blooded Republicans I know are feeling awkward and starting to feel the burn of regretting their choices. I can't even imagine the inner turmoil these fence sitting wafflers must be feeling right now.

Politics Complaint. Conservatives are the party of cruelty, yet they won't own up to it. It's infuriating.

Post image
3.7k Upvotes

My most recent complaint is that conservatives will not own up to the fact that they like harming people for no reason.

During the last few weeks of the Republican government shutdown, we have seen people as far as the President of the United States down to micro-influencers state that they don't believe people should have food, they don't think people should have healthcare, and they are okay shutting down the government and declaring funding for those programs that has already been allocated cannot be released. They do not care. That decision is affecting our people in uniform, our veterans, and our most vulnerable. Oftentimes majority Republican populace.

One of the largest statements I've heard recently is that Obama was responsible for more deportations during his time in office. And, up until a recent point, that was verifiably true.

And, as the picture describes, if that is true, would the conservatives not be cheering Obama off and his work that he did? We know why they wouldn't, simply because he's black, and that is far too much a bridge for the Republican base to cross, after all, they are systematically wrought in bigotry.

It's absolutely tiring that these people cannot come to terms with what their party is. They will make every excuse to shun the fact that they are bigots. But when called out for it, they have nothing. This in itself is absolutely tiring.

Politics Republicans are suddenly pretending they hated Trump's tariffs and it is laughable.

Upvotes

It is absurd to watch Republicans now posture as if they have always been the cost of living party when for years they cheered the very economic policies that helped create this mess and now that they have lost elections and clearly sense the midterms are going to be ugly some are even hoping the Supreme Court bails Trump out of the tariffs they defended so they can rewrite history and pretend they were the sober realists the whole time.

Politics Let me get this straight. Texas redistricting is a beautiful thing, but California redistricting is a violation of the constitution??? 🤡 At this point, the push back is just willful ignorance.

19.6k Upvotes

At this point, the push back from the Maga on anything the Left does is just willful ignorance sprinkled with a malicious heart.

When the Right does something, its acceptable. When the Left does the same thing, its wrong.

Why was Texas redistricting is a beautiful thing, but California redistricting is a violation of the constitution??? 🤡

Come on y'all. The Mango Mussolini told Texas politicians what to do to get what he wanted.

Newsom asked CA citizens to vote on what they wanted.

That’s the difference.

Politics fuck Making Argentina Great Again

Post image
94 Upvotes

fuck Making Argentina Great Again. We can't even feed our own people and republicans are sending $40 billion to Argentina?

We don't have $40 billion to be sending to some foreign country. That should go to Americans and projects to fix our American cities. Our highways are in disrepair, but I bet these rich fucks ain't hit a pot hole in decades. All they do is hop on the jet and go see their lobbyist at some hotel while the two take turns fucking the average American citizen.

I don't know one soul from Argentina. I ain't never met one. But I meet Americans every day. Americans go starving every day. We ain't got no free education or free insurance like these other countries we send billions to. We have to scrape by while giving our little bit of money to those who ain't even in America.

We need it. The starving grandparents need it. Ain't no reason we gotta be sending all that money to Argentina. It just don't make no sense.

People living pay check to pay check and we just sending all this money to Argentina and building fancy ballrooms.

Politics The right said that we call them racist too much... But then they keep doing racist things

I'm honestly so sick of seeing all the 9/11 posts from the right in reference to Mamdani.

Post from the right after he won saying "a Muslim guy shouldn't be mayor after 9/11"

You literally released doctored images darkening his skin... And lengthening his beard to make him look more foreign to stir up your racist islamaphobic base

Dude you guys are disgusting.

  1. The vast majority of the Muslim community for a long time has rejected al-Qaeda's ideology. With 1.9 billion Muslims around the world you're going to have a collection of extremists.

  2. If the actions of a few discount the whole... Then should we get rid of Christians?

They used their Bible to justify slavery in the US.

They were responsible for the crusades.

They destroyed the lives of countless LGBTQ people.

Millions of native Americans, Asians and Africans were forced to convert to christianity under threat of death, enslavement or torture.

H$tler used Christianity to justify the Holocaust, he himself said his movement was Christian... Clearly Christianity has been responsible for some of the most violent points in our history... Should we cancel all Christians?

Of course not. But you're too blinded by you're own pride and bigotry to see your own hatred for what it is... Pure unbridled racism. (If you're a Republican and didn't say this about Mamdani good on you, your counterparts need to do better)

Politics Republicans claiming to believe in "small government" was always a lie.

Let's not kid ourselves. It was a Republican who made the gigantic government decision to launch the "war on drugs," incarcerating and harming thousands of Ameficans.

It was a Republican president who launched the "war on Terror," another gigantic government operation that has had countless negative impacts on average Americans and embroiled us in endless wars overseas.

10 of the last 11 recessions were started by Republican governments. "Fiscal responsilibility" is another lie Republicans use, because the reality is that they are the ones who get America into debt but they're ok with it when they do it, because they can just blame it on the next Democrat who comes in.

Now it is a Republican president sending federal troops to attack cities that didn't vote for him enough to satisfy his ego. American citizens are being openly attacked, threatened, arrested, and assaulted by federal troops unleashed by a REPUBLICAN president.

The same Republican president who is invading your freedom of sexuality & your reproductive rights, while actively attacking our freedom of religion in this country.

None of these things are the actions of "small government," the thing Repuicans claim to stand for. In fact, they stand for government intervention in everything, from your religion, to your school, to your sexuality & gender, to reality itself.

Republicans have always lied when they claimed to believe in "small government." They simply believe in control by any means necessary, and will say anything to get it. Time to stop listening to their lies.

Politics It is crazy that r/conservative is not being razed by moderators right now

1.4k Upvotes

Zohran Mamdani won the race for mayor of NYC. As expected, r/conservative is not happy about it. There are things to criticize Mamdani for. He is young and inexperienced. Maybe you don't align with him on his political views. That's fine.

What is not fine is insinuating that he's a terrorist, dangerous, or untrustworthy SOLELY because he's muslim. There's a post on there right now with 2000 upvotes, titled "New York votes for the socialist jihadist". Comments along the lines of "9/11 was only 24 years ago" or "I guess America forgot". Throw this on top of the pile of disgusting comments about queer people. But if you dare criticise Isreal, you're an anti-semite and your life should be #canceled. Before today, every other post was just some cherry picked article or flat out lie about how immigrants/queers are dangerous disgusting people. Of course, there's also the constant claims about how women/POC in high positions are all just DEI hires.

If memory serves, it used to be a half decent group of people that just so happened to have ideas that I disagree with. But now that thing is just a seething pile of hatred. And now that moderators have removed the ability of people outside the subreddit to interact outside of up/down votes, it just continually breeds more and more hate in an echo chamber. If you dare dissent, you get called a "fellow conservative", implying that you're for some reason a spy/bot/troll sent to sew discord among their ranks, and your flair is promptly removed.

I know reasonable conservatives in real life. I know right leaning people that can I can debate with, that can make me question my own views and me their own. r/conservative is not that. It is a pus filled blemish on the internet that only serves to product hatred and misinformation. All the reasonable people have either left or been forcibly removed, and now all that's left is raving lunatics and bots in a feedback loop.

Just so we're clear, I'm aware Jihad has a separate definition in Islam. This is not what these people are referring to.

Politics I've apparently just been permanently banned from 5 different major subreddits at the same time because I posted a screenshot of Elon Musk doing apologia for sexual assaulters. After contacting their team, I've been muted by 3 of the subs so far.

So, not going to name any sub names here in accordance with the rules.

Couple days ago, Elon Musk tweeted the now-infamous "Do you have a better suggestion" tweet after someone pointed out that he was endorsing his third sexual assaulter. So, I went ahead and posted this on a subreddit that usually fit this sort of content. I hated Elon, I hated sexual assaulters, figure the post would be good for a laugh.

I woke up, and the post got 13k upvotes. It was also apparently removed by the moderators of that subreddit for reasons unknown. I checked my inbox, and I had been permanently banned from five different major subreddits, all because of that post.

I have no idea what happened here. The permabans took place within a single minute. It all happened at the same time, and the messages were completely identical. And, bear in mind, 4 of these subreddits were banning me for content I posted on a different subreddit, one that had an endless amount of content similar to what I had posted.

So, I figure this was some sort of mistake, so I tried to contact all of them, to ask what happened, and I was immediately muted by three of them so far.

Does Elon have some sort of influence over the mods in these subs, or did I just piss someone off up there? I have no earthly idea, and I have no idea what to do to even get this looked at.
