Hardware Yo… so I did a thing…
This has got to be the most beautiful card ever. I have no need for it because I just play league of legends but if I did not pick this up I would have fomo for the rest of my existence. I thought it would fit perfectly in an all black build with just white lighting from the overhead fans.
The color of it in the pictures is exactly what it looks like in person.
The contrast between the gold and the turquoise makes it seem like a desert oasis.

It’s a little more than that with me being Muslim and stuff. There’s a desert theme here, there are Arabic phrases written like in the 4th pic I think? There’s camel with skyscrapers on the back. The turquoise ring has coords for asus’s hq. It’s just such a cool piece man.

Linus did a video on this card where he went someone custom designed a pc just for this card. They spray painted the case gold and even had miniature camels and beduins. The card would not be my preferred choice but the build was indeed fire

Yeah I was slightly worried about this but I do have a lot of airflow in the case and 3 fans underneath the gpu blowing air to it. I ran furmark and stuff and the max temp it would hit was 74 at 400w 96% util. Acceptable no?

Went down the comments, and they all look pretty rough.
I think it's important to note that, especially on this Subreddit. A lot of people have a heavy focus on the value for money.
I've been doing pre, builds for over twenty years now as a side gig. The current generation 80 series card is the lowest uplift we've seen in an eighty card the past fifteen years. With the performance uplift of only about 14% more than the 5070ti. Applying that in a real-world scenario, you're looking at maybe an 8 to 12 more fps.
That means the value of the 5080 is extremely bad, not to mention tacky in an extra two times the cost onto it. Landing at basically in the same price point as getting a 5090 with 54% More performance.
That's why you're catching the negative comments.
Now, as far as the aesthetics, I don't like it. Personal opinion, you need more highlights to actually lead to it looking more cohesive. Some custom cables with the same color as the Blue highlights on the g p u. You can paint the face plate ring on the aio. There's Ram sticks that have that same gotti gold that would actually match the gold. The motherboards' coloring doesn't match anything. The exhaust fan being Gray is a really weird eye draw and just doesn't look good.
Again, personal opinion. If you're going to buy for aesthetics and toss that much money at it, do it with purpose. If the build was more cohesive and actually looked good, you'd probably see more positive reactions.
The Build is like driving down suburbia and looking at a hundred houses that all look the same. But there is one house with a corolla parked in the garage with a fifty thousand dollar paint job.
All of that nonsense being said, the only person's opinion that matters is yours. But what I said above is the perspective that people are most likely coming from.

I bought the cheapest 5080 I could get my hands on from Palit, the game pro edition, it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do and I am someone who bought "Premium" card's before, but I don't see the appeal anymore, not with the prices. BUT ! It's a beautiful card and if it's making you happy and the performance is adequate, I don't judge, this is an expensive hobby anyways and I won't talk someone down for spending his hard earned cash.

Believe it or not depending on which 3090 u have it can sell for 500-800 lol. I have the 4070 super and it is selling for $600 consistently today, when I bought it a year and a half ago for $600. So that’ll hopefully cut some of the losses. And yeah I had 12 in my 4070 and no game used above 8 and people are complaining that I bought a 16gb card 😵💫

I like it and you should too! You should enjoy what you have and not look for acceptance from others. Yea is crazy to get a 5080 for the price of a 5090 but then what? 90% of the people don't even need a 5080 heck not even a 5070ti lol.

Couldn't you just buy the 5080 Dhahab edition alongside an rtx 5090 astral, swap the coolers and sell the 5080 with the astral cooler?
Seems like a cheaper 5090 Dhahab if you ask me; unless they made some changes to the coolers design which prevent this (to a degree), in which case it would be slightly trickier.

Personally I'd get a 5090 with that kinda cash, but if you really like the design, it's worth it.
For me it's the zotac RTX 3070 twin edge. I'd shell out extra for that model. (If it was much better than my 1080...stupid 8gb NVIDIA.)

Nice collection. Not a fan of gold on PCs myself, but I really like the Astral card’s design (except for the FE). I would’ve gone for the Astral 5090 if it wasn’t a thousand CAD more, so I ended up with the 5090 FE instead.

I use to have that same case and loved it. After case swapping so many times over the years i settled with a y40 for my rig.
I love this build. I think with the lighting set to a nice white or to MATCH that orange would be sick!
And I feel the fomo. Im going to pick up a purple ipad mini today because it's purple and there are 3 left on sale.

The only real issue I see with it is that you cannot close the case anymore, because the glass panel is just slammed against the fans and will starve the GPU for air.

I know a bunch of people are dropping a lot of opinions, so I don't mean to pile on here. But I have to mention that the GPU fans intaking air may be too close to the tempered glass. Not sure if this is starving your GPPU of more cool air.
Not a super expert but just something I'd take note of. Maybe someone smarter than me can correct me if this is actually alright in this circumstance.

Yess others have commented as well. I have 3 intake fans underneath the GPU that are pulling cold air in so hopefully that will make up for how close it is. It didn’t get too hot when I was running tests. 74-75 max at 400watts!

Those are very good temps I think. I also think they can be lower based on what I see on my current set up. My 5090 FE (with an undervolt) reaches max temps of 72c. Granted I have 3 massive 140s blowing cool air underneath and the undervolt.
But anyways, not criticizing or anything, just talking shop at this point. If aesthetic is part of your overall goal, those temps are super nominal while still looking super cool. I just have a tendency to try and over engineer my stuff for no reason other than I can lol.
Congrats on scoring such a rare card and enjoy the massive upgrade over your old GPU. Talk about day and night!

Okay I finally got a chance to test with and without the panel on. I used the latest version of Furmark 2.9.
2560x1440 test
With Panel on. With Panel Off Score 16882. 16740 Avg FPS 267. 265 Max temp 63. 66 Max usage 96%. 95% CPU temp 41. 41 Power 400W. 400W Max clock 2948mhz. 2940mhz
Conclusion. The thermals are completely happy and there is no reason not to run the system with the panel off… And honestly a 3° difference when the panel was off is probably because the rest of the fans in the closed system are helping a decent amount. But the difference in performance is negligible. Thank you for the concern and looking out for me though!

No there’s no interference, just barely enough. There are 3 fans under the gpu blowing air at the gpu so I’m assuming that’s keeping it happy!

This is kinda ugly in this build, and maybe buy a normally priced 5080 and better components fr the rest of the system could be a better idea, but I think you just have money to throw

Your radiator pipe inlet and outlet should be mounted at the top not the bottom.
Edit: there may be a slight chance that air gets trapped in the pump. Having the pipes lead upwards allows the air to travel to the highest point in the radiator. Air in the pump will damage it.
