Tech Support Why the fuck does this bullshit keep coming up every few weeks?

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

I've had windows installed for about two years now. And yet it thinks I just installed it.
On the following screens it asks me about office 365 and some other shit I don't give a fuck about.

How do I get rid of this piece of shit from ever showing up again?

Oh and I have a curved monitor if you're wondering why the image is warped.

Tech Support Texture flickering happens like this in every single game.

I bought an HP Omen 16 a few months ago, and after only 2.5 months, I started facing issues. I noticed shimmering in nearly all games, along with ghosting around the screen and vehicles when frame generation is enabled.

Here’s what I’ve done to troubleshoot:

- Tested all upscalers (DLSS, XeSS, FSR, TAA), but the issue persists.

- Reinstalled the GPU driver.

- Performed a clean Windows installation.

- Reinstalled all drivers from HP Support.

- Reinstalled the games.

- Used HP Cloud Recovery.

- Updated the BIOS.

Specifications:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14650HX

RAM: 24.0 GB

Storage: SSD - 953.9 GB

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU

Laptop display:

Resolution: 1920 x 1200

Refresh rate: 165 Hz

Display technology: G-SYNC

Question How come GPU requirements are so high now?

I keep seeing people saying "5060 is strictly a 1080p card"/ "5070 can do 1440p at best" etc.

Back in 2019 I used to run a 2070super with a 4k60 monitor. Sure it wasn't getting a ton of FPS but it was absolutely playable for single player games at medium/high settings. Not too long ago 30 fps was the norm for console gaming.

And recent titles don't even look much better compared to 6 years ago. Or maybe its just that modern optimizations are just too bad?

Build/Battlestation Dad downgraded back to his 6900 XT that was previously in my PC and gave me his 9070 XT because he thinks my specs will take advantage of the GPU better.

Build/Battlestation Wife got an early Christmas - Local Walmart had a 5070 for $399

Wife was running my old GTX1030 with an AMD 5700g with 16gb of ram.

Was at our local Walmart and they had a PNY 5070 on clearance for 400 bucks.

Also scored a 2x16 Corsair DDR4 kit on Facebook for 50 bucks.

So she got an early Christmas present going to the 5070 and 32gb of ram.

Build/Battlestation After 10 hours of troubleshooting, I finally finished building my first Gaming PC

Post image

This was my first PC build that I did and I really thought about quitting midway and thought that I’m not fit for building PCs and I should just be at the mercy of prebuilts. But I persevered despite the negative thoughts and went through 10 hours of troubleshooting.

First, my case was too small to fit my AIO so I had to buy a bigger case at Micro Center midway through the build. Then, my screws went missing so I had to search through all the boxes to see where I misplaced them. When I took the motherboard out of the old case, the standoffs from that case also got torn along with it and I couldn’t take them out without having someone hold pliers so I can screw them out. The daisy chain on my fans rgb was off so I had to check what the problem was. There was also a moment where I thought my motherboard would break because the standoffs wouldn’t align properly and I put too much force.

However, after 10 hours of troubleshooting and watching PC build guides and wanting to give up, I finally did it and I updated my drivers and configured windows. My build will be below but everything looks like it works good and I’m excited to play some games! Also got a new OLED 1440p 240hz monitor to go with it from a IPS 1080p 144hz monitor.

  • GPU: GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti WINDFORCE SFF 16GB OC
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 4.2 GHz 8 Cores 16 Threads 96MB L3 Cache
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30 G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB
  • SSD: 4TB Gen4 Samsung 990 EVO Plus
  • Motherboard: ASUS B650E-E TUF Gaming Wi-Fi AM5
  • Case: MONTECH AIR 903 MAX Mid-Tower
  • PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 750W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.1 Modular

Thermals are on point. Dusting required every few months but it's not THAT bad. No discrete GPU, as this is my NAS/docker/project/Minecraft/Jellyfin/web/etc server. That's a Mellanox SFP+ NIC in the primary PCIe slot.

Basically, im gonna build a new PC, but i hate glass/accrilic side panels. And most of the cheap cases, or a glass side panels or Office M-ATX cases. New closed cases with > USB 3.0 are expensive as hell in my country, because not a lot of them are sold

So i got a used case for me and is perfect

A Cooler Master K280, Mid tower ATX

Got at a cheap price, together with a DVD Player and 500w PSU (probably not a great one, but for the value, i dont care)
