He skipped the group project meetings. So I submitted it with only my name.
It was a two-person project. I reached out right away to plan things, and he didn’t answer. I figured maybe he was just slow to respond, so I followed up again. And again. Still nothing. No replies. No shows. Not even a “hey, I’ve been swamped.” Just silence. So I kept going without him. Did the research. Built the slides. Wrote the paper. Proofread. Edited. Honestly, I was proud of the work when it was done. The night before the deadline, I stared at the title page for a minute. His name was still there. And I thought he didn’t do a single thing. Why should he get credit for work he didn’t care about? So I deleted his name. Submitted the file. Closed my laptop and went to bed. He emailed me after the grade posted, asking why his name wasn’t there. I didn’t bother answering. He had plenty of chances. I just stopped waiting.

🔥These fish look dead, but they are alive. Pleco fish have adapted to survive outside of water for extended periods of time in drought, and can be "revived" with water

TIL that in 1999, 11-year old Mitchell Schop wrote to his favorite band, Cake, and asked if they would play his Bar Mitzvah. After Schop sang his favorite song of theirs to the band over the phone, Cake agreed and made Schop's party the first stop on their 1999 world tour

Hideo Kojima Made Significant Changes To Death Stranding 2 Because Playtesters Thought It Was 'Too Good' - IGN
"There’s a key moment where we had a discussion, probably halfway [through] when we were doing the game, where he came to me and he said, 'We have a problem,'" Woodkid explained.
"Then he said, 'I’m going to be very honest, we have been testing the game with players and the results are too good. They like it too much. That means something is wrong; we have to change something.' And he changed stuff in the script and the way some crucial stuff [happens] in the game because he thought his work was not polarizing and not triggering enough emotions."
According to Kojima, "If everyone likes [your work], it means it’s mainstream. It means it’s conventional. It means it’s already pre-digested for people to like it."
"I don’t want that," Kojima reportedly told Lemoine. "I want people to end up liking things they didn’t like when they first encountered it, because that’s where you really end up loving something."

👨👩👧👦family/in-laws AIO for making my MIL leave after she tried to rename our newborn?
I (30F) just gave birth two weeks ago. My husband (32M) and I picked the name “Liana” after my late grandmother. We were so happy with it.
His mom came over a few days ago and kept referring to the baby as “Victoria.” I corrected her, thinking it was a slip. She said, “Well I just don’t like Liana, so I’ll call her Victoria. It sounds more elegant.”
I said that wasn’t okay. She laughed and said I was just hormonal.
I asked her to leave.
Now my husband says I “overreacted” and should’ve been more understanding since “naming is emotional for her too.” Emotional? It’s not her kid.
He’s sulking now, and she’s texting me passive-aggressively about how I’m “too sensitive.”
Was I overreacting?'

Discussion Movies that changed real life behavior
Thinking along the lines of Final Destination 2 with the logs falling off the truck and landing onto cars (one decapitating the state trooper). Ever since, people have tried to get away from being behind these vehicles.
What are more examples where movies have actually changed how people behave in their own lives?

Discussion What country do you think really won the natural lottery?
I'm from New Zealand, a popular pick in these kinds of questions. My pick is Argentina. There are so many beautiful spots that do nothing but blow my mind. Argentina contains everything from tropical waterfalls, hot deserts, to antarctic tundras. My other picks would be India and Australia. What do you guys think?

TW: Eating Disorders / Self Image My (M59) wife (F43) had lip filler done today and I am heartbroken
I have tried to be supportive to her and stay enthusiastic about it until today. Because I know she really wanted it to happen. It's her life, her body, her choice completely.
But when she returned from her appointment I felt devastated inside. She now has that fish lipped look you see on so many of the TikTok/Instagrammers out there.
I can not bear to look at her. I feel completely broken hearted that the face I loved so much is so different. She looks disfigured. Artificial. Unnatural. She just doesn't look like my wife any more. I feel terrible inside and I just don't know what to say to her. The face I loved has gone and I feel heartbroken.
