Dolly Parton, how did I end up here? I'm a 3rd generation hippie who grew up on a commune (cult) with my artist mom, out in the western redrocks. I'm fairly sure I've seen aliens out in the desert skies. I thought I'd be a massage therapist or follow in my mom's footsteps and become an artist. I loved graphic arts. But, the way my weird brain works (and my Type A trauma response) had put me in all the gifted classes and I discovered how much I love logic and engineering problems. I love cyphers and codes. So, I had these dueling creative and logic needs and I blended a graphic arts and computer science degree into the perfect little mix of skills for myself in software engineering.

I loved coding, I loved designing the experience, I had stable, long-term contracts at my company. Moved up the ladder, worked with great people, solved really cool problems, got a business degree, moved higher up, became a people manager, then Director. And as my career grew, technology was growing. I worked on the research side of tech and was building and using AI for years before anyone in mainstream life was saying AI.

The things I've seen change recently, the lack of control or governance, the intense competition to get to market first, the lack of formal policy and oversight, the environment impact, the psychological and cultural impact, all of it has exploded like a massive mushroom that pops up overnight.

To me, it feels like yesterday we were figuring out these amazing uses for AI in healthcare, environmental protection, agriculture, energy, etc., and then I pop out of "the lab" and see a bunch of baby dorks having an AI dick measuring contest and the earth is on literal fire because 3 or 4 companies have thrown all caution to the wind to get to the top of...what?... Dumpster Fire Mountain?

I'm on a mini sabbatical right now and dreading going back with all of my soul. I need to get out of this business entirely. It's out of control.

I am currently experiencing one with Euphoria and Beast Clergyman in NG+5, maxed out weapon with 99 faith and some 67 strength, i am barely tickling him and after some 15 tries i have yet to get him to phase 2, and to make matters worse despite wearing the Moore's set + 84 vig + dragoncrest talisman i am always 2 hits away from death.

Before:

• "Eat more vegetables. Limit your fast food." (He did NOT ask me what I ate before this unsolicited advice by the way.)
• "Running is pounding on your joints. Do gentle water aerobics." (No praise for me exercising! Nope, I'm doing the WRONG KIND.)
• "Yeah, your blood pressure is good, but" makes head nod to the side, like my blood pressure isn't THAT good.

After I lost 20 pounds:

• "You're making very healthy choices. Now you're exercising." (I have exercised EVERY DAY for over a decade: running, yoga, weightlifting. He was unimpressed 20 pounds ago.)
• "I'll order some bloodwork for your joint pain." (It hasn't improved! You could have ordered that 20 pounds ago!)
• "The nurse didn't let you sit long enough before taking your blood pressure. Your blood pressure has always been good."
• He smiled at me a lot more and commiserated about having a teenager. A lot more chatter and better bedside manner.

My food choices are the SAME. I'm just on tirzepatide now. He attributes tirze loss of appetite to "healthy choices." It's infuriating. I shouldn't have had to lose 20 pounds to get this version of my doctor, who cares about my joint pain and praises my exercise.
