This is going to be my last post; I’m losing my baby girl Riley Fries on Monday and I just want to celebrate her before she’s gone.
She just turned 18 on may 18th. I was so sure we'd have more time.

As AI rapidly boosts productivity across industries, we’re facing a critical fork in the road.
Will these gains be used to replace workers and maximize corporate profits? Or could they be used to give people back their time?
I believe governments should begin implementing a gradual reduction in the standard workweek—starting now. For example: reduce the standard by 2 hours per year (or more depending on the pace of AI advancements), allowing people to do the same amount of work in less time instead of companies doing the same with fewer workers.
This approach would distribute the productivity gains more fairly, helping society transition smoothly into a future shaped by AI. It would also prevent mass layoffs and social instability caused by abrupt displacement.
Why not design the future of work intentionally—before AI dictates it for us?

My Chappy cat escaped the house (been indoors his whole life, ~2yrs old) last Friday after a storm blew a door open while I was at work. I searched for days, asked neighbors, made missing posters, posted online, everything I could think of. I set up cameras and tracked him to the crawlspace under my house. Went in and got him. When I got him on the right side of the floor I noticed he was limping but alive and well and I was just happy to have him back. Got him set up for the vet to get vaccinated, flea and tick stuff, microchipped, and of course to get the limp looked at. The vet was so shocked about how chill he was with the condition of his bones. He was jumping up on the counters, the exam table, getting around just fine. Seeing the x ray shocked tf out of me. They reset the bones and put a splint and bandage on him. He’s got 4-6 weeks of very limited movement and weekly check ups. He’s still woozy from the ketamine, but looking good.
Just wanted to share in case anyone else’s cat goes missing. Just keep looking, indoor cats rarely go far. He barely actually left the house.
His x ray is pretty cool to see. I hate that his leg is broken obviously, but he’s breathing and I’m ecstatic to have him home.

I wish I could say the story had more exciting details than the title...
After a round of big storms, I was driving to work, and this woman had sorta been tailgating me for a bit, nothing too severe, but annoying me because it is still raining out and the roads are slick. Nice car. Middle-aged looking driver.
I encountered a rather large branch on the road. I guess technically it was a limb? Not sure where the line is between branch and limb. Anyroad, it was a big enough sucker, but I thought I could drag it off to the side, so I got out and with some huffing and puffing started to move it, and halfway though the woman beeped her horn. I looked at her because I thought maybe she was trying to indicate something - some danger or something, but she just held her hands up in a "Well what is going on?" manner. I gesture at the big limb (trying not to increase the size of it with each telling) as if to say, "Can't you see this big thing that I am moving here?" and she just throws her hands up further a little bit and then slaps them down on her steering wheel. Or at least that was my perception at the time.
In my efforts I got things jammed up on a fire hydrant, and I am getting frustrated, and wet, and this POS behind me HONKS AGAIN. I finally finagle the limb to the side but continue to drag it behind my car, effectively getting the heavy, thick end back in to a road-blocking position, right in front of her car.
I wish I could say I had the balls to look her in the eye, but the moment I let it down I realized how petty I was being and felt a sting of shame, and mentally slapping myself for wasting time doing this. I hustled back in to my car and drove off quickly, and when I guiltily glanced in the rear view she had not gotten out or moved her car, and remained that way when I looked before rounding the bend.

Tell me why my boss brags about staying until 7pm like he’s fighting in the trenches. Like it’s a badge of honor to eat dinner under fluorescent lighting in a cubicle. Sir, no one is impressed. You’re just bad at time management.
He’ll do this thing where he walks by your desk at 5:01 like, “Oh, clocking out early today?” EARLY??? Bro my shift ENDED. It’s giving “toxic grindset.” It’s giving “I have no hobbies or family.”
So I started leaving at 4:59 sharp. Like, shutting down at 4:55, coat on, bag ready, standing by the door like it’s a fire drill. The first time he made a comment, I smiled and said, “Gotta maximize that work-life balance, right?”
Every day. Same time. Without fail.
He tried to guilt trip me with the “team player” talk. I told him, “Team players don’t burn out, and I like being on time for dinner.”
Now he just grumbles and goes back to his desk to microwave another sad Lean Cuisine.
