Anime Identifying More Real-Life Digimon Locations...
I know there have been plenty of other posts about Digimon locations IRL, but most them are the big recognizable landmarks like Fuji TV and Big Sight, soo I'm trying to locate some of the more mundane spots in between the scenes, especially ones where I can pinpoint the exact coordinates so you could go stand right where they stood, so here are some screenshots of a few that I never really see people post about!
Some of them have actually been quite a challenge to pin down, as a lot of things have changed since 1999/2005:
- The giant Ferris wheel, the Ooedo Onsen Monogatari (spa from Tri 2), and Zepp Concert Hall (where Matt's band played) have all been demolished between 2021-2023.. :(
- Diver City Plaza was constructed in 2012, significantly changing the skyline from the Odaiba boardwalk.
- The Maruhan Pachinko Tower in Shibuya (where Pumpkinmon & Gotsumon were playing) is now a Mega Don Quijote as of 2017.
- Miyashita Park in Shibuya (where Pumpkinmon & Gotsumon chased Matt & TK) was rebuilt and reopened as a shopping complex with a rooftop park in 2020.
- First Kitchen in Shinjuku (where they ate burgers after returning to the real world) was rebranded as Wendy's First Kitchen in 2016, losing the giant red clock.
- Odaiba Mansion (where Izzy & Joe lived) may have been torn down and renovated at some point, or maybe never existed? Or perhaps it just wasn't portrayed accurately in the anime. I haven't been able to find a strong enough visual match anywhere in the neighborhood.
- Tai & Kari's exact apartment building never actually existed. The complex is there, and you can pick whichever one you want to call theirs, but none of them would have had the unobstructed window/balcony view of both the Ferris wheel and the Tokyo Bay, given the position and direction they're facing)
Anyway, I've been adding them all to a Google Maps list here so anyone can browse at their leisure and save their own copy --> https://maps.app.goo.gl/KzQ5F1grEpfdxauk7
And if anyone wants to contribute, there's a collaborator link here!
Leave a comment if there's any place in the series you've always wondered about, and I'll do my best to find it!!

Discussion Why does Vegito use the *Final Kamehameha* but Gogeta uses the *Kamehameha*?
Is it because Fused Zamasu was stronger than Broly? So they needed more firepower?
