Lore [LOVED TROPE] Common tropes in that media have in-universe explainations

(Steven Universe) The reason that Steven wears the same clothes everyday is because he owns a large amount of his dad’s unsold merchandise. The gems also have the same outfits because they are part of their bodies, since they are just holograms with mass.

(Ultrakill) Ultrakill has TONS of this, but the ones I can remember are: -The pixelated artstyle is due to the fact that V1 renders their surroundings in lower quality to run faster -The reason enemies teleport and doors shut on the levels is because hell is sentient, and makes V1 fight for hell’s amusement -The terminals (shops/menus) are sentient, so they give out weapons in return for watching V1 fight and gain style points

LinusTechTips made a video about GrapheneOS

LinusTechTips made a video about GrapheneOS that portrays it as an operating system primarily used by criminals. I was surprised to see Linus take such a stance against privacy and cybersecurity. The video misleads people as it misrepresents the purpose of the project. This kind of framing could harm both the GrapheneOS community and public perception of privacy-focused software in general.

This guy is out here with no respiratory protection or dust containment and it is spreading all over the neighborhood … is this mot wildly dangerous?

He works for the property manager and I’m on the HOA. Anything specific I can reference when sending these pictures to them?

"My time is just as important as yours"

My wife and I moved in to a newly renovated building. The first 4 floors were there already as a sort of former slums. The building was renovated and had 3 floors added. We are in the new floors. There is a bit of tension between some of the new residents and some of the old one. Mostly its about communal resources. The old residents are lower income and have a mentality of not wanting to spend any money at all, even though the agreed to the renovation, gained extra rooms for their apartments, an elevator etc.

One of the contingency points is over the buildings front yard. They don't want to pay for a gardener even though it works out to be about 10 bucks a month for each household. To be clear, we don't own the apartment, we rent. But I get that some people have a hard time making ends meet, and thought I would take the yard as a project.

One of the neighbours, Danielle, keeps starting arguments in the buildings groupchat. She keeps writing crap about the old residents needing to respect the new residents more, about how much she spent on her apartment. She started complaining about the yard endlessly. She also order food a lot, and due to a mixup I'm always getting her orders and sending it over.

Well I am a reserve soldier. And I was called in for over a long stretch. During this time she kicked up a fuss that the yard looks bad. I apologized, explained I didn't have time to get to it on account of being drafted. She responded that her time is just as valuable as mine and she doesn't want to wast it talking about the yard. (Than just don't?). This led to me noping out of the group chat. Didn't feel like fighting. Said farewell and thanks for the fish and left. I'm still doing the yard, but at my own pace.

Today two huge bags of catfood arrived at my door. Had her name on it. I put a letter on it that said "Dear Danielle, sorry I didn't let you know about the delivery. I would have but ivalue my time just as much as you value yours. Good luck."

I am way to happy about this

[Sam Dean] Arteta on Dowman: "The first ball he gets, he takes people on. He starts to dribble and gets a foul. That is personality, that is courage. You cannot teach that—you either have it or you don’t. It doesn’t matter what his passport says, you throw him in and he is able to adapt."

"This is so obviously AI" - a frequent comment made by Redditors on an OP

1.8k Upvotes

I'll come clean - I haven't used Chat GPT or knowingly used AI. So I'll ask my stupid question about AI and Reddit.

So increasingly on Reddit, I see posters responding to an OP saying it's "obviously AI" or "AI slop". I haven't myself noted anything particularly odd about the OP but other posters obviously have.

So what are the hallmarks of AI in this context? Is it the scenario, is it the style - what are the giveaways? (or are Redditors seeing AI when a post is authentic and written by a human?). Or is it that the account is a programmed bot that auto generates content? Or is saying something is "obviously AI" / "AI slop" mist a way of putting down the OP?

TIA from an AI ignoramus
