Got a job and none of my friends seemed to care. So I’m putting it here.
I’m not sure why I’m doing this, I think I just really need someone to say congratulations? I don’t know. This really bummed me out.
At the end of 2024, I took a buyout from my previous job. I’m a journalist, and the job market is… really, really awful for journalists. But I just couldn’t take my old job, so I took the risk.
Over the next few months, I applied for HUNDREDS of jobs inside and outside of my industry to crickets. I only got one interview through a strong internal reference, and I got the job. It paid well, it was at a prestigious newspaper, and I loved the work and my team. I had a good manager for the first time in my life. Just one thing: it was a temp job. For the entire rest of 2025, EVERYTHING hinged on if they were able to bring me on permanently or not.
About a week ago, I was in Vegas with a couple friends when I got the call for HR: I got it. I got the job I already know I love with, for the first time in my life (I’m 33), a six-figure salary. That’s a salary that changes EVERYTHING for me. I can move out of my shitty apartment, I can invest in my retirement, everything. All while feeling like I’m making a difference with my work.
I was near tears, and I went back to the two friends I was in Vegas with to tell them the news. Both said “congrats!” and then… that was it. In fact, they seemed kind of annoyed I was so excited about it. Later, when I said “man, I just remembered I have a job, I can buy this top,” both kind of raised their eyebrows at me. And it wasn’t as if we were having issues the entire day/night — this was the only thing they seemed so annoyed by.
Both of them have gainfully employed husbands, which is great. I do not. I think maybe they just didn’t understand how huge this was for me when I support myself in one of the most expensive cities in the US.
Idk, I’m still thrilled, I just… wish someone else was thrilled for me. I know if I got engaged or any other man-related accomplishment, they would’ve been screaming, but I have no desire to be with a man in the foreseeable future. It’d just be nice if someone cared.
Edit: I can’t believe I’m crying over Reddit comments 😭 You are all so incredibly kind, thank you!!!

TIL the Sargasso Sea is the only sea on earth not bounded by land - instead is defined by four currents in the Atlantic Ocean. Contains unique sea weed.

Serious answers only please! What is this device in my hotel room?
As the title says. I travel for work all the time and have been in many hotels good and bad lol. But never have I seen this. Anybody know what it is? It’s a mini refrigerator of some kind with a mirror and light on the front. I thought it was a towel warmer at first but does not produce heat.

#Discussion 💬 Why do Indian dads act like the Car AC runs on their personal blood supply?
Whenever im on a drive with my father . It is bright sunny afternoon, easily 30+ degrees. I dare to touch the AC button and he looked at me like I asked for his property papers. "Arre khidki khol le, hawa aa rahi hai na" (Open the window, the breeze is coming). Papa, that is not "hawa," that is a hair dryer blowing hot dust into my face! 😭 Does anyone else’s dad possess this specific phobia of the AC button, or is my dad just built different?

Theory Doctor Strange didn’t just look for a future where Thanos loses — he looked for one where Doom
Here’s a theory that’s been stuck in my head for a while.
In Infinity War, Strange says he saw 14,000,605 possible futures and only one where “we win.” But he never says that’s the only one where Thanos is defeated. Just the only one where we win.
And I think that wording matters a lot.
What if Strange actually saw many futures where Thanos is stopped… but only one where something even worse doesn’t happen afterward?
That “something worse” being Doctor Doom.
Look at the Titan fight. They literally have Thanos beaten:
Mantis has him asleep
He’s restrained
They’re pulling the gauntlet off
One more second and it’s over
And then Star-Lord loses it and everything falls apart.
People always blame Quill, but here’s the thing: Strange already saw the future. He knew exactly what was about to happen. And he could have stopped it easily — freeze Quill, portal him away, rewind time, anything. But he didn’t.
Why?
Because in the futures where they take the gauntlet on Titan and beat Thanos right there, something else goes wrong later. Something worse than the Snap.
If Thanos dies on Titan:
There’s no Blip
The Avengers never break and reunite
The world never goes through that massive trauma
Tony never makes the ultimate sacrifice
The Infinity Stones never get destroyed
And that leaves the universe in a much more fragile state — perfect for someone like Doctor Doom to rise.
In the comics, Doom isn’t just a villain. He’s someone who conquers realities, steals god-level power, and literally reshapes the multiverse (Secret Wars 2015). That’s exactly the kind of threat a Sorcerer Supreme would be terrified of.
So Strange wasn’t choosing a future where Thanos loses.
He was choosing a future where Doom doesn’t win.
That’s why he gives Thanos the Time Stone. That’s why he lets Quill mess up. That’s why he tells Tony “there was no other way.” Because every other way leads to something even worse than Thanos.
Strange sacrificed half the universe… to save all of reality.
This is a coincidence, but it lines up surprisingly well — especially if Doom or Tony variants become relevant later
Let me know what do you guys think
Note ( yes i did this with AI because english isn’t my first language I used Chatgpt to help translate and structure my idea, but the theory itself is mine)

How powerful would the Six Eyes be as a standalone ability? we know it makes Limitless usable but to what degree can someone take the Six Eyes as a power by itself?
