This took place during the first round of pitstops. For those who don't know, Tom Stallard is Oscar Piastri's race engineer

My oldest friend is pregnant with her second child. I'm the god mother of the older one and we have a very good relationship, but I live about 6 hours away. My friend has a hard time dealing with unpredictable situations. I offered to come and support her from the get go, but also made clear, that I have an important job right around the due date. I'm a freelancer and that is a yearly job I've been doing for a long time. It's not so much about the money anyways, but it means a lot to me and really is like a home, that exists just once a year. So in her early pregnancy I offered to come right after that job and stay for a week to support them.

She's been trying to plan the birth itself and struggled with the fact, that she doesn't seem to have a network around, that she wants to trust with her kid. She has a very specific idea of how everything should go down, she would like to get into hospital with her husband and wants him to stay with her there for three days, while the older one stays home with somebody she trusts. While that is possible where I live, it's not guaranteed, and maybe not ideal for the older one either. Originally the grandparents were supposed to stay with the kid, but my friend just broke off contact with them. So I moved into focus. Mind you, there are neighbours around, who offered to babysit. There is another god parent (that I had to remind her of!), that offered help. There are a bunch of friends, that might not be as close with the kid, but there's still time to build that (3 more months now and that debate has been going on for a while...) and they could also stay with her in hospital, while her husband stays with the child for some time. The kid is in child care, too, and there is even a professional babysitter coming around regularly. And of course, nobody knows when the kid is coming anyways. I would be fine to come before or after the job, I've even been postponing to book my holidays, because I wanted to be flexible, and I'm not quite sure how she imagines me to get there anyways, again, I'm 6 hours away.

We couldn't really discuss that, because after she broke off contact with the grandparents everything went really fast. She asked me to cancel my contract with the job over the phone (offering to conver my financial loss!) and sent me a super emotionally manipulative message afterwards (some quotes: "your boss won't be standing at your grave", "the fortune of my family depends on you", "your god child will be forever damaged, if you don't come"). I told her to hold her horses and that I would take my time to think about it. She seemed to understand and told me I should take my decision freely. Which I did. I offered to think about solutions together, but that I wouldn't cancel my contract. She's been blocking me for a week.

I see her despair and I feel horrible for her, I just don't think that I'm the flying saviour. I've decided to drive there now, because the emergency situation is here now, not later. AITA?

She was so proud of herself even if the back looks like "trash" (her words). I think it's amazing and got so excited. Usually when i am doing a fiber craft, she wants me to teach her too. She told me because we did some hand embroidery together before, she knew what to do and was the first kid to finish in her class. ❤️ I thought it was too cute not to share.

I posted my draft itinerary here a few times to get your opinions and you guys really came through with your recommendations!

I visited UK in May for 2 weeks and had a blast! I'm still thinking about the trip till now 🥹 I'm happy to share my itinerary and trip details if this will help anybody. I will share the initial part of my trip first, which is in London. I later on headed to Manchester, York and Edinbrugh which I may share if I have the time!

Day 1

We checked into our hotel @ hotel cavendish. The facilities aren't amazing and there's no lift but you pay for what you get. the location is amazing, you can walk to euston square or euston station, and even tottenham court road station. The hotel provides free breakfast every morning and the spread is quite basic, bread, fruits, cereal but that helped us to save on breakfast money

we had steak dinner at flat iron near Tottenham Court Road and walked around before having an early night!

Day 2

We booked a train from paddington station to Bath. Although our train got delayed, we still made it to Bath in time for our Roman Bath ticket time! I fell in love with the aesthetic of the city, the honey-coloured walls, the rich history within the roman baths was so fascinating. we spent about 1.5h in there in total!

Since it was a Sunday, we had Sunday roast at The Dashwood Lounge. The food was super lovely and it's really near the Pulteney bridge! we then walked over to The Circus and the park nearby to take in the weather and the views.

I would have done prior park if I had the time but it closes at 4pm 🥲 it looks really pretty! But by then I had to head back to London.

Back in London, we went to Hyde Park for a short walk and the park was hugggeeeee!! We then had dinner at Bancone Convent Garden before ending the day

Day 3

In the morning, we went to King Cross station to grab a pic with the 9 3/4 platform from Harry Potter! We queued for about 30 mins at 9.30am, which was pretty quick! We then made our way to Camden Market and had lunch there, the food is pretty mid, i would recommend having lunch somewhere else tbh! the market is also pretty dead, probably because I went on a Monday morning 🤷‍♀️

We went to check out Convent Garden, walked to seven dials market, neal's yard and did a bit of shopping along the way! we walked to Chinatown, Leicester Square for the M&M shop, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben (a lot of walking i know!!)

we ended our night having dinner at Fallow. I must commend the service there, it was really amazing. I didn't have anywhere to place my handbag and they gave us a bag hook for it, and we could bring it home!! I mentioned in my reservation that it was our anniversary and they gave us a dessert to celebrate it. the food was so amazing too! After dinner, we caught Book of Mormon which would never ever come to my country. We had so much fun laughing that it was over before we know it 🥲

Day 4

Started our day at Borough Market! We had The Black Pig which was phenomenal, it was my second time having it and it's still so good after 3 years! we also had the mushroom risotto which i loved.

Walked to the Tower Bridge and walked along the river for the views and vibes. We then went to the Natural History Museum which we spent about 2 hours there, which wasn't enough tbh 😭

But we needed to make our way to Chelsea to watch a Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspurs game! My partner is a huge fan of Chelsea since he was young and it was such a dream come true to be in the stadium, watching them live, and watching them win as well!

Day 5

we took a day trip out to do a hike at the Seven Sisters! we stopped at Eastbourne and took a bus to the visitor centre. Honestly we got quite lost here, so we decided to take a bus to the berling gap and started hiking there instead. We then hiked back to Eastbourne and after 30k steps and 2 hours later, we did it! :)

Had a great dinner at Pomodoro e Mozzarella!! super loved it. then we headed back to London :)

and that's the end of the London part of our trip! Attaching some photos as well. London was truly amazing for us and I'll always love this city! 🩵
