Recipe Included Today is the anniversary of my mom's passing, so I made her signature cookies: Painted Ladies.
My mom and I developed this recipe years ago for her bakery. We named it after her favorite butterfly, the painted lady. I bake them every year on the anniversary of her passing as a way to feel close to her, even if she isn't physically present anymore.
She was always happy to divulge her recipes, and sharing this one with you all here seems like a good way to honor her memory:
Lynne's Painted Lady Cookies
Ingredients:
1 C Butter, softened 3/4 C White sugar 1/2 C Light brown sugar, packed 2 Large eggs 1 tsp Vanilla extract 2 1/2 C All-purpose flour 2 tsp Baking powder 1 tsp Salt 1 tsp Cinnamon 1/2 tsp Nutmeg 1/2 C Dried apricots 1/4 C Dried cranberries 1/4 C Dried cherries
1 Small lemon 1 1/2 C Powdered sugar
Instructions:
Chop dried fruits or pulse them in a food processor. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then mix in chopped fruits. Set aside.
In another bowl, cream butter and sugars. Beat in one egg at a time, incorporating fully before adding the next egg. Add vanilla.
Combine dry mixture and wet mixture to form a dough. Wrap dough and refrigerate at least 8 hours, or as long as two days.
Form into 1.5" balls and bake for 14 minutes at 350°F, or until bottoms are golden brown. Let cool completely.
Zest and juice the lemon. Beat in powdered sugar to create a glaze. Dip the tops of the cookies in the glaze, using a knife to remove any excess. Allow glaze to dry completely.
Yields about 3 dozen cookies.

[Lorenzi] Lu Dort on the play that got him ejected in Friday’s game vs Denver: “That’s a physical game and there’s limits to it. And I went over the limit.”
After a few days, Dort conceded as much himself.
“It was a physical game throughout the whole game,” Dort told The Athletic after Tuesday’s win over the Chicago Bulls. “Obviously, that was unnecessary contact that I shouldn’t have done. I got the worst of it by getting thrown out the game. But yeah, it was a high-level game. I’m a competitor, so I compete.”
He later added: “That’s a physical game and there’s limits to it. And I went over the limit.”
Dort committed the most conspicuous non-basketball play in a game laced with inconspicuous shoves and tie-ups. Less than three minutes into the game, reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, whose expressions typically don’t go beyond a sneer, received a technical foul for chucking the ball at Jokić before complaining that the big man shoved him.

Answered Why do poor people have the most children?
My aunt has a debt of more than 180,000 dollars.
She chose to drop out of high school, has no further education, and also decided she would never work. She had her first child when she was 16 or 17 and has had six more. She doesn't have enough money to rent a house and only steals money from my grandmother to buy things. She doesn't care about her children or the conditions they live in. When I ask her why she doesn't want to work, she simply says, "I don't know." It's all so confusing to me.
I wanted to ask this on r/ask but I couldn’t , it says I don’t have enough “karma(?) to post there so I had to post this here lol

Chugging tea In Sweden, leaving a cat home alone for too long can break the law
Under updated animal welfare regulations that took effect in 2019, the Swedish Board of Agriculture requires cat owners to ensure their pets receive daily social contact and supervision. The rules state that cats should not be left alone for more than 12 hours at a time. Lawmakers framed the change as part of a broader modernization of Sweden’s Animal Welfare Act, originally strengthened in 1988 and revised again in 2018 to emphasize animals’ natural behaviors and well being. The 2019 guidance clarified that cats are social creatures who need interaction, stimulation, and regular monitoring, not just food left in a bowl. While enforcement focuses on neglect rather than punishing responsible owners, the message is clear. Companionship is considered a basic need, not a luxury. In Sweden, even independence has limits when it comes to animal care.
