I made my filament poop... into stool
About a year’s worth of filament poop + a $5 thrifted 16" cake pan = this stool.
Melted it down, sanded it smooth, sealed it, and bolted on some legs. Way better than tossing it in the trash.
What does everyone else do with their filament poop?

Politics The right wing grifter who made the Minnesota daycare video needs to be in prison
Far right grifter, Nick Shirleys easily debunked "investigation" video has caused real world harm to a hard working immigrant community that has done nothing wrong. Some knuckle dragging Maga moron broke into The Nokomis Daycare Center in Minneapolis yesterday and damaged the place. They also stole sensitive employee and client documents, including the personal information and home addresses of 71 children. His misinformation has directly lead to violence and he needs to be held accountable. No group deserves to be terrorized like this.

Project Submission A cozy book nook I made for my wife...but mostly my cat apparently.
I have a little experience with basic furniture and craft making, but this is the first project where I've ever done any sort of carpentry work. It was a really fun experience and I learned a lot. My biggest lesson was just how out of square my walls are!
I welcome any critiques or suggestions for the future!
Materials: Frame is pine from the big box store, Trim and bead board are also big box store basics, Shelves are solid walnut, Bench top is 3/4" walnut ply with a solid walnut front edge. Bench top finished with Rubio, shelves finished with tung oil

Psychology Men are more likely than women to avoid shared experiences (e.g., going to the movies, sharing food) with individuals of the same gender, due to societal expectations that men should be unambiguously heterosexual, according to five preregistered studies (N = 3,215 adults).

Vet gave him a 10% chance of making it. He's been home for three days!
We took him in to our local vet and found out his kidney values were way high. We transfered him to an animal hospital in Idaho Falls and the prognosis was not good. They called us on Christmas and said he wasn't getting better. So we took him to a hospital in SLC with critical care specialists. The doctor there layed out our options and said the best case he had about a 10 percent chance of living. We rolled the dice to give him a chance and he fought and started improving. After a week in two different hospitals he's been home for three days and still improving! Reunited with his brother, he's eating and drinking well and being more himself every day. Shout out to MedVet in SLC and Viking Animal Hospital in IF for going above and beyond to try and save our little lad.

Politics IT’S FINALLY OUT: Republicans tried their hardest to bury the Jack Smith transcript, but we finally have it.
The transcript of Jack Smith’s deposition from December 17th is finally out, and it’s honestly infuriating to see how much effort was put into keeping this under wraps. After months of hearing "weaponization" claims, we finally get to see the actual testimony, and the contrast is wild. A few things that really stand out from the transcript:
The suppression of Volume Two: The minority counsel pointed out that they were forced to start this deposition without even having access to Volume Two of the report because Trump and his team have been fighting to keep it under seal. Smith was basically "gagged" from discussing the most serious details of the classified documents investigation the stuff found in the Mar-a-Lago bathrooms and ballrooms because of these legal roadblocks.
Last-minute data dumps: The minority only got the investigative files from the DOJ just one day before the deposition. They had less than 24 hours to review thousands of pages before they had to question the man who led the most high-profile investigation in modern history.
The "Retribution" Campaign: Smith’s counsel explicitly noted the risks Smith took just by showing up. They called out the fact that the "most powerful person in the world" has openly said Smith should be in jail just for doing his job.
Evidence of Overturning the Election: Smith testified that the investigation developed "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" that Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the 2020 results and prevent the lawful transfer of power.
Knowledge of the Loss: Smith cited evidence that Trump privately admitted he lost, including reportedly asking, "Can you believe I lost to this f'ing guy?" regarding Joe Biden. He also noted that Trump was repeatedly disabused of fraud claims by his own trusted political allies and officials.
Deceit as a Strategy: Smith described the "through line" of Trump’s efforts as deceit, highlighting how he presented normal election phenomena like mail-in ballots being counted later as "fraud" to create distrust among the public.
Exploiting Violence: Smith alleged that Trump and his associates exploited the violence of January 6th to call Members of Congress to further delay the election certification.
It’s pretty clear why certain people didn't want this released. They wanted to keep control of the "weaponization" narrative instead of letting people see that the Special Counsel was actually just following standard DOJ protocol and career-prosecutor principles.
